Job Description VDC Manager Work Location: 601 First Street NW, Grand Rapids, MI or 155 West Congress Street Suite 505, Detroit, MI Position Classification: Full Time Exempt About This Opportunity Rockford is looking for a key member of Virtual Design Construction Manager. Leading BIM standards development, implementation, and enforcement. This role will lead and support the use of digital technology from the design to construction process. They will provide direct, hands-on training for internal staff on the use of BIM related software. Key Responsibilities • Foster an environment of diversity, equity and inclusion., • Understand project workflows (schematic design, design development, construction documentation phases) and project management., • Understand project delivery methods and coordination methods., • Assist with VDC/BIM leadership to support in-house pre-construction team, design team and project management team with day-to-day and long-term duties, tasks, and training., • Assist with VDC/BIM leadership in exploring more VDC applications (4D scheduling, 5D cost, nD, etc.), • Develop BIM Scope of Work, BIM Project Execution Plan, BIM Schedule, and document necessary to complete scope as determined with VDC/BIM leadership and project teams., • Lead and self-perform BIM coordination for large scale, multi-discipline projects., • Set up and maintain Federated models using Revit, Navisworks, and related platforms., • Run clash detection, manage issue tracking, and drive models to clash-free signoff milestones., • Ensure VDC/BIM deliverables meet quality, accuracy, and constructability expectations., • Track and communicate schedule and cost impacts associated with coordination or scope changes., • Track new software and technology trends and work with the team to bring in new skills and tools, both within and beyond Navisworks, Revit and AutoCAD., • 1Provide hands-on training and technical guidance to BIM Coordinators and project teams., • Be productive, positive, and proactive in a fast-paced work environment., • Define and communicate project goals and milestones to team members., • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, MEP Engineering, or a BIM related field; or years of equivalent experience., • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience using and creating deliverables using Autodesk software., • Advanced proficiency with Revit (Architecture, MEP, and Structure), Navisworks Manage, and AutoCAD., • Proficiency using Procore and Autodesk Construction Cloud, • Experience leading BIM coordination efforts on large-scale or multi-discipline MEP projects, • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines., • Demonstrated ability to lead coordination meetings and collaborate with diverse project teams., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Motivated to advance the firm and advance your professional growth., • A passion for looking for ways to improve individual and/or company performance. Environmental Factors The work environment for this position is a typical office environment with occasional construction site visits. When in the office, the physical demands require the ability to sit for long periods of time. Intermittent movement, such as accessing centrally located office equipment, lifting of 35 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing, may be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Site visits may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction.
