Job Description Date posted: November 4, 2025 Position Type: Full-time (40 hours per week) Compensation: $19.00-$22.00 per hour ($39,520-$45,760 annually) Benefits: 50% employer-paid silver health plan (single coverage), all federal holidays paid, 5 sick days and 5 vacation days per year POSITION OVERVIEW We are seeking a versatile professional to fill a unique dual-role position at King Urban Life Center. This full-time position combines leadership of our after-school STEAM program with administrative support to our Executive Director. The ideal candidate will have both educational experience working with diverse urban youth and strong administrative skills. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES STEAM Program Leadership (approximately 20 hours per week) • Design and implement age-appropriate STEAM curriculum and activities for school-age children, • Lead hands-on learning sessions in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, • Create an inclusive, engaging learning environment that celebrates diverse learning styles, • Develop programming that builds critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills, • Maintain safe learning spaces with proper supervision and safety protocols, • Build positive relationships with children and their families, • Track program outcomes and document student progress, • Coordinate with schools and community partners to enhance programming, • Manage program supplies, materials, and equipment, • Provide comprehensive administrative assistance to the Executive Director, • Manage Executive Director's calendar, schedule meetings, and coordinate appointments, • Handle correspondence including emails, phone calls, and written communications, • Prepare meeting materials, agendas, and take minutes as needed, • Serve as receptionist for incoming phone calls and in-person visitors, • Maintain organized filing systems and handle confidential information with discretion, • Draft and proofread correspondence, reports, and other documents, • Support board meeting preparation and organizational communications, • Order office supplies and maintain inventory, • Full-time position: 40 hours per week, • After-school program hours: 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, • STEAM Program schedule: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM (includes one hour for program planning and preparation), • Administrative hours: Flexible scheduling during weekday business hours, • Located at King Urban Life Center, 938 Genesee Street, Buffalo, New York, • Dual work environment: educational programming spaces and professional office setting, • Experience working with school-age children in educational settings, • Knowledge of STEAM education principles and hands-on learning approaches, • Experience working with urban youth and families from minority backgrounds, • Previous administrative or office support experience, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, • Strong classroom management and behavior guidance skills, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), • Cultural competency and commitment to equity in education, • Professional demeanor and customer service orientation, • Ability to work independently and transition smoothly between different roles, • Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Business Administration, or related field, • Teaching certification or relevant educational credentials, • Experience with after-school programming or youth development programs, • Experience supporting executive-level leadership or nonprofit organizations, • Bilingual skills (especially Spanish or other languages spoken by families in our service area), • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and positive youth development, • Experience with project-based learning and hands-on STEAM activities, • Background working in urban educational settings, • Familiarity with database management and nonprofit operations, • Competitive hourly wage of $19.00-$22.00 based on experience ($39,520-$45,760 annually), • Stable, full-time position with diverse responsibilities, • Comprehensive paid time off for all federal holidays, • 5 paid sick days per year, • 5 paid vacation days per year, • 50% employer-paid silver health insurance plan (single coverage), • Employee assistance program, • Meaningful work making a direct impact on children and families, • Professional development opportunities in STEAM education and nonprofit administration, • Unique opportunity to contribute to multiple aspects of organizational success Interested candidates should submit to a resume and cover letter explaining their interest in this dual-role position and describing relevant experience in both education and administration.
