This is a permanent Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) post within a specialist Multi-Academy Trust, providing a dedicated SaLT service across schools. \n \n The post holder will deliver high-quality clinical provision supporting children and young people with a range of complex communication needs, and will contribute to the ongoing development of effective communication pathways across the organisation in collaboration with school staff and wider professionals. \n \n This is a clinical role with service development input, not a management or line management position. \n \n Key Responsibilities: \n Clinical Practice \n\n • Deliver a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service across multiple education settings\n, • Assess, diagnose, and implement intervention for children and young people with complex communication needs\n, • Work with a range of presentations including:\n, • Learning disabilities\n, • Autism\n, • SEMH\n, • PMLD\n, • Physical and complex needs\n, • Develop SMART targets and use appropriate outcome measures to evaluate progress\n, • Use evidence-based assessment and intervention approaches tailored to individual needs\n\n \n Service Delivery & Development \n\n • Contribute to the development and improvement of SaLT pathways across the Trust\n, • Select and implement appropriate communication assessment tools\n, • Support the embedding of communication-friendly environments within schools\n, • Contribute to clinical audits and service evaluation processes\n, • Ensure practice is aligned with current legislation, guidance, and best practice\n\n \n Collaboration & Communication \n\n • Work closely with teaching staff, SEN teams, and wider multidisciplinary professionals\n, • Provide guidance and advice to school staff to support communication development\n, • Work collaboratively with parents/carers to support communication goals at home\n, • Contribute to EHCP reviews and multi-agency planning meetings\n, • Produce high-quality written reports for reviews and statutory processes\n\n \n Training & Support \n\n • Deliver training and guidance to school staff across the Trust\n, • Share specialist SaLT knowledge to upskill staff in communication support strategies\n\n \n Professional Practice & Compliance \n\n • Work autonomously and manage a complex caseload across settings\n, • Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and organisational policies\n, • Adhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies\n, • Engage in CPD and performance development processes\n\n \n Person SpecificationEssential \n\n • Degree/diploma in Speech and Language Therapy\n, • HCPC registration and membership of RCSLT (or equivalent professional body)\n, • Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience\n, • At least 2 years’ experience working with children/young people with complex needs\n, • Experience managing a varied and complex clinical caseload independently\n, • Strong knowledge of SaLT assessment tools, interventions, and outcome measures\n, • Experience working with SEND populations (e.g. ASD, SEMH, LD, PMLD)\n, • Excellent report writing and communication skills\n, • Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\n\n \n Desirable \n\n • Experience working in specialist education settings or multi-site provision\n, • Experience contributing to service development or pathway design\n, • Experience using a wide range of outcome measures in clinical evaluation\n, • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams in complex environments\n\n \n Additional Information \n\n • The role is primarily school-based, with travel across Trust sites required\n, • Usual working hours are typically 8:00am–4:00pm (3:30pm Friday finish)\n, • Some administrative and planning work may be completed flexibly or from central office space when required\n, • Start date: ASAP or September start preferred\n\n \n INDDELIVERY \n
