Job Description Position Summary Are you a hands-on leader who is passionate about building safer, healthier communities? Rebuilding Together Metro Chicago is looking for a skilled and driven Construction Manager to lead impactful home and community repair projects that directly improve lives. In this full-time role, you will develop scopes of work and project budgets, oversee contractors and volunteers, and occasionally roll up your sleeves to complete minor repairs. From planning to execution, you will ensure every project is completed safely, on time, and within budget while keeping our mission at the heart of everything you do. You will report to the Construction Director and collaborate closely with our dedicated program and administrative teams. Primary Responsibilities: Project Planning and Execution • Conduct site assessments to evaluate repair needs for homes and community spaces., • Develop detailed scopes of work and corresponding budgets., • Coordinate and monitor home and community repair projects from start to finish., • Possess a working knowledge of standard construction documents (e.g., AIA suite)., • Occasionally self-perform minor repairs and installations (e.g., grab bars, handrails, home safety equipment)., • Liaise with homeowners, contractors, staff, and volunteers to ensure clear communication and collaboration., • Oversee, support, and inspect work performed by contractors and volunteers., • Lead and instruct unskilled volunteers during event days (typically one-day, group repair projects)., • Assist in maintaining inventory of tools and materials in the warehouse and company vehicle., • Assist in project set-up and close-out, including required paperwork and documentation., • Update and maintain project information in the organization’s database., • Track and manage tool and material inventory in the warehouse and on-site as needed., • Support client education initiatives and provide technical insight where appropriate., • Attend and assist with program events and fundraising activities as requested., • Bachelor’s Degree., • Minimum four years residential construction experience including hands-on work and contractor management., • Mission-driven attitude with a passion for non-profit, volunteer, and social services., • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills., • Superb organizational and problem-solving skills., • Ability to successfully multi-task and manage various projects and deadlines., • Familiarity with Google Documents and MS Office suite., • Bilingual (English/Spanish)., • Physical stamina and agility are required., • Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds., • Able to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and hand carts., • Must be able to safely and properly operate tools and perform limited construction work tasks (e.g., install grab bars, handrails, smoke alarms, etc.)., • Must own a reliable, insured vehicle and have a valid driver’s license., • Must be able to rent and safely operate vehicles such as cargo vans and box trucks., • Travel between the main office and other locations will be required., • Project locations may not be accessible per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)., • Attend and participate in mandatory training, staff meetings, and other events as scheduled. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience and falls within the range of $65,000 to $80,000 annually.
