Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Athletic Trainer to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide athletic training coverage to contracted area high school(s) as assigned by Indiana Physical Therapy. Adhere to the policies, procedures, and operating protocols relevant to this position. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform the duties and responsibilities of an IPT Athletic Trainer., • Gather schedules from assigned high school(s) and provide schedule information of all high school sporting events to Athletic Training Coordinator., • Set up, record, and track all athletic injuries in assigned high school(s). Athletic trainer will record all athletic injuries on the IPT record and enter the data into the Access Database. This includes athletes with injuries who are referred to and seek physician assessment and/or treatment, as well as athletes referred to the physician by the athletic trainer but chooses to not to see the physician., • Facilitate referral of injured athletes to appropriate Indiana Physical Therapy clinic(s), and report referral to the supervising PT/ATC., • Track any injuries referred to a physician, follow up on those athletes who receive surgery and/or are directed to physical therapy to ensure referral to the appropriate Indiana Physical Therapy clinic location., • Assist, as assigned, at Saturday morning “walk-in” clinic during the football season, or, as assigned, to IPT clinic(s)., • Maintain technical ability to provide body fat analysis, as assigned, at contract high school wrestling programs., • Cover, as assigned, IPT events, i.e. health fairs, educational or marketing sessions. QUALIFICATIONS: • College graduate., • Must maintain an active and unrestricted Athletic Trainer License issued by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau, Physical Therapy Committee., • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written., • Must have basic computer skills, preferably knowledge of Microsoft Office, or similar software products., • Must have the ability to establish and foster effective working relationships., • Must be able to work legally in the United States. WORK SCHEDULE: • The athletic trainers will be working on a 12-month calendar., • Each athletic trainer will need to maintain at least a 30-hour work week. These hours will be at the athletic trainer’s assigned clinic/school or a combination of clinic and school assignments., • PTO for the athletic trainer will be accrued per the IPT PTO policy. Each athletic trainer will be allowed to use their PTO at their discretion, if they receive approval from their supervisor, • During pre-season activities in August, the athletic trainer is expected to provide daily injury checks, as well as practice coverage in conjunction with the schedule at his/her assigned school(s)., • The athletic trainer’s schedule is subject to change and is always dependent upon the needs of school(s) contracted to Indiana Physical Therapy. TRAVEL: • Athletic trainers are required to travel with their assigned high school’s varsity football and are encouraged to travel with other sports during conference and state tournament and at the discretion of the athletic trainer when schedule permits., • Athletic trainer is required to use school transportation to and from away athletic contest unless other work requirements do not allow for them to travel with the team. Travel time is considered part of the athletic trainer’s assignment and is not considered work hours., • In the event the athletic trainer is not able to take school transportation to an away contest, due to other work obligations, then the travel to the contest will be considered work hours and mileage will be reimbursed per the IPT mileage reimbursement rate., • If the athletic trainer chooses to travel to the away contest when transportation is available and other work obligations are not prohibiting using this transportation, travel time and mileage is at the expense of the employee., • Travel between assignments is considered work hours and mileage will be reimbursed. Personal errands, mealtime, breaks or travel to and from the athletic trainer’s home and assignment are not considered work hours and mileage will not be reimbursed.
