Cutter The Cutter is responsible for making sure the specifics of a job that needs cutting are understood and followed by reading the job jacket and looking over the printed work. The position is responsible for passing a high-quality product which meets quality standards to the next workstation. Job Description About the opportunity At GSP in Lenexa, our mission is simple: make retail better. We bring retailers’ ideas to life through inventive print production, technology, and hands-on craftsmanship. We’re growing our Print Production team and are hiring 1st and 2nd shift Cutters as well as a 1st shift Digital Fabrication Technician. A day in this role You clock in, review the day’s job jackets, confirm any pre-fabrication steps were completed, and set priorities with your Supervisor. Then you move into precise production work—taking printed stock and cutting it to spec, executing detailed custom cuts on large-format guillotine cutters and routers, and ensuring every piece you pass to the next workstation meets our quality standards. • Interpret production orders and verify all required fabrication is complete before cutting, • Operate large cutting equipment to achieve exact dimensions and intricate cuts for varied printed materials, • Cut in alignment with Supervisor-assigned priorities and production timelines, • Inspect output, proof as needed per procedure, and escalate any signage issues to management, • Maintain safety and cleanliness standards across the work area, • Apply laminates and perform precise trimming and cutting of finished graphics, • Understand how media types, inks, and lamination interact; know properties and applications of common substrates, • Safely use X-acto knives and operate laminators per established procedures, • Perform routine cleaning and maintenance on cutters, laminators, and printers, • Log time and materials for each task and help ensure production deadlines are met, • Suggest improvements that can boost cost-effectiveness, quality, efficiency, and delivery What you bring, • Ability to speak, read, and write English, • Willingness to work weekends and overtime when needed, • Comfort lifting 50 lbs and following all safety procedures, • Printing background is a plus—not a must.
