Job Description Objective: Assist the Store Manager with daily operations to ensure the store runs efficiently and smoothly. Promote a positive work environment, demonstrate strong time-management skills, and assist in providing staff oversight. Support customers with product selection, paint mixing, color matching, and wallpaper and window treatment orders while ensuring a consistently positive customer experience and completing other duties as required in a retail environment. Assist Manager With - Team Management: * Cultivate a positive, engaged, and accountable workplace culture. * Provide leadership, direction, and performance oversight aligned with company policies and procedures. * Train, coach, and develop team members; delegate responsibilities appropriately. See that all policies and procedures are being followed as stated in the Standard Operating Procedures. * Manage and provide staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage during all operating hours. Provide appropriate documentation to employees and the Human Resources as needed. * Communicate sales initiatives, promotions, incentives, and new product launches. * Encourage consistent delivery of exceptional customer service across all channels (in-store, phone, delivery, and job sites). Assist Manager With - Customer Service: * Ensure retail and contractor customers consistently receive knowledgeable, accurate, and timely service. Assist with product selection, color consultation, order processing, color matching, paint mixing, wallpaper, window treatments, etc. * Maintain a welcoming, engaging store atmosphere that promotes a “barbershop-style” customer experience. Ensure hospitality areas are clean, stocked, and offered to customers. * Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently. * Provide accurate and consistent pricing for contractor accounts. * Assist with collecting payment from customers with charge accounts * Communicate holiday hours, weather-related updates, and operational changes clearly, (e.g., by posting signage) * Maintain strengths while actively identifying and improving service opportunities. Assist Manager With - Inventory management * Oversee accurate ordering, receiving, transfers, and returns of inventory. * Ensure shelves are stocked with appropriate inventory levels on a daily basis and in preparation for sales events. Maintain an organized stockroom; ensure pricing labels are accurate; face and merchandise shelves; conduct inventory counts; manage product rotation, dead stock, mistints, and vendor returns; and ensure all displays are accurate, current, and properly maintained. * Maintain thorough product knowledge and train team members accordingly. Assist Manager With - Equipment and Property maintenance * Ensure all store equipment and job-related tools are operational and properly maintained, including updated computer systems and softwares. (e.g., Windows, Decor, Colorx, etc.) * Oversee cleanliness and organization of showroom, warehouse, and restrooms. Monitor interior maintenance needs and report major concerns to the General Manager or building owner. (e.g., product placement, floors swept and mopped, bathrooms cleaned, face inventory, dust counters, HVAC filters replaced, light bulbs, etc.) * Oversee exterior maintenance, including signage, keeping parking lots and sidewalks free of trash and debris, maintaining flower beds and planters, and coordinating with landscaping and snow removal services as needed. * Maintain a safe, compliant, and functional work environment. Additional: * Support daily opening and closing procedures, including alarms, registers, tint machines, systems, paint mixing, color matching, warehouse transfers, unloading and receiving truck orders, stocking shelves, and preparing for daily operations. * Grow and maintain store profitability and monitor the various financial metrics provided by management for areas including sales, margin, labor allocations, inventory turns and stock levels. * Actively participate in management meetings, provide suggestions to peers and owners , and effectively communicate information to your team as needed. * Identify and implement opportunities for efficiency related to staffing, inventory, and store layout. * Uphold company core values of Integrity, Teamwork, & Excellence and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures. * Demonstrated knowledge of company POS systems, Shopify, and Benjamin Moore programs. * Prepare for and participate in company and customer events such as Painter Breakfasts, Ball Games, COTY, and community activities. * Perform additional duties as required or assigned by the General Manager. Qualifications & Physical Requirements * Teamwork: Experience and Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues to ensure smooth store operations and provide support as needed. * Customer Service Expertise: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively assist customers, answer inquiries, and provide knowledgeable guidance on product selection and usage. * Problem-Solving Skills: Aptitude to troubleshoot customer issues, provide technical support, and resolve any challenges related to product application or performance. Ability to work under pressure and delegate responsibilities as needed. * Organizational Skills: The capacity to manage your time efficiently and appropriately and do multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining an orderly work environment. * Basic Computer Skills: Proficiency with POS systems, email, and retail software. * Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, walking, twisting, climbing ladders, and standing for extended periods. * Prior experience in retail paint and team management preferred. * Time expectations: The store must be properly staffed and managed during all business hours, with either the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager present or available. Additional responsibilities outside regular hours—such as managing vacations and call-offs, assisting employees or customers, attending customer events, and handling general store issues—may be required. Due to the varied nature of these responsibilities, the schedule may fluctuate. On average, this role is expected to require more than 40 hours per week, with weekly workload subject to change based on business needs. Non - Exempt Position
