Scope: The Registered Nurse (RN) Manager shall provide clinical coordination for the Occupational Health Clinic (OHC) located in Washington, DC. The RN Manager is responsible for supporting the daily coordination of clinic operations and ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality occupational health services to a federal workforce performing mission-critical duties. Clinical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing basic first aid, supporting occupational medical surveillance programs, preparing examinees for medical evaluations, and performing clinical screening procedures such as vital signs collection, vision screening, phlebotomy, urine specimen collection, electrocardiograms (EKG), vaccine administration, audiometric testing, and spirometry testing. The RN Manager will also support employee health and wellness initiatives designed to promote workforce health, safety, and readiness. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the RN Manager will assist the project manager in coordinating clinic tasks including staff scheduling, clinical workflow support, equipment maintenance and calibration, and the maintenance of clinical policies and procedures consistent with occupational health standards and program requirements. The RN Manager serves as the primary point of contact for OHC works collaboratively with the Project Manager (PM), Nurse Practitioner (NP), Nursing Staff, Medical Assistants, and Medical Officers to ensure continuity of services and efficient clinic operations. The RN Manager reports operationally to the Project Manager (PM) and receives clinical support and oversight from the onsite NP, the Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer (CMO). All healthcare services shall be delivered in accordance with applicable federal regulations, occupational health standards, evidence-based clinical practices, and the ethical principles of the nursing profession. Responsibilities: The Registered Nurse (RN) Manager is responsible for coordinating daily clinic operations while providing direct clinical nursing support within the OHC. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Clinical Nursing Duties Obtain and document clinical screening data including vital signs, vision screening, height and weight measurements, audiometric testing, pulmonary function testing (spirometry), electrocardiograms (EKG), phlebotomy, and urine or other specimen collection in preparation for medical examinations. Prepare examinees for occupational health medical evaluations and ensure required diagnostic testing is completed accurately and efficiently. Administer vaccines and medications as ordered and serve as the primary vaccine coordinator, ensuring proper vaccine storage, handling, documentation, and compliance with established vaccine management protocols. Serve as the vaccine coordinator, assisting with vaccine storage, handling, temperature monitoring, inventory management, documentation, and administration in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, manufacturer recommendations, and clinic vaccine management protocols. Provide basic first aid and initial clinical assessment for employees presenting to the clinic with minor illnesses or injuries. Initiate referrals to the NP or appropriate clinical providers when additional medical evaluation is required. Compile and organize examinee medical records to ensure all required documentation and diagnostic results are available for provider review. Assist with medical record review and case preparation in accordance with written medical guidelines and standardized nurse review training provided by the Medical Director. Clinic Operations and Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for OHC operations and assist with coordinating daily clinic workflow and patient throughput. Maintain staff schedules and coordinate clinical coverage to ensure continuity of services. Monitor, order, and maintain medical supplies and equipment inventory to support clinic operations. Calibrate and maintain clinical equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and occupational health program requirements, including audiometry and spirometry equipment. Coordinate clinic meetings, operational briefings, and task groups and track action items. Validate and approve employee timesheets in accordance with Summit Healthcare Solutions policies and program requirements. Quality Assurance and Compliance Maintain approved work systems, procedures, processes, and policies consistent with occupational health standards and program requirements. Participate in the review and implementation of clinical policies and procedures to support efficient clinic operations and regulatory compliance. Conduct chart audits and participate in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives to ensure accurate documentation and adherence to medical protocols. Maintain all medical records in compliance with applicable privacy laws, federal regulations, and clinical policies. Remain current with required training, certifications, and competencies relevant to occupational health clinical practice. Attend and participate in meetings and professional activities to remain informed of new developments, regulatory updates, and program improvements. Comply with all applicable Summit Healthcare Solutions standards, policies, and professional conduct expectations. Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited nursing program approved by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). Current, active, and unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Minimum of five (5) years of professional nursing experience, preferably including occupational health, employee health, primary care, urgent care, or similar clinical settings. Demonstrated experience in clinical coordination, clinic operations, or supervisory roles within a healthcare environment is preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent nationally recognized organization. Demonstrated proficiency in performing clinical screening and diagnostic procedures including vital signs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, audiometry, spirometry, EKG, and vaccine administration. Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate clinical operations, prioritize tasks, and support a multidisciplinary medical team. Proficiency with electronic systems and standard office software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Ability to successfully pass and maintain required background investigations, including a Tier 4 (High-Risk Public Trust) background investigation, as required for work within a federal law enforcement environment. Must successfully pass and maintain required credentialing, background checks, and drug screening in accordance with federal contract requirements and Summit Healthcare Solutions policies. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working in an occupational health, employee health, or federal health clinic environment. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing program. Experience coordinating occupational medical surveillance programs, including audiometric testing, respirator medical evaluations, pulmonary function testing (spirometry), and other job-related medical monitoring programs. Professional Certification in Occupational Health Nursing- Specialist (COHN or COHN-S). Certification as a Certified Occupational Hearing Conservationist (COHC) or equivalent training in occupational audiometric testing and hearing conservation programs. Completion of NIOSH-approved spirometry training for the performance and quality control of occupational pulmonary function testing. Experience serving as a vaccine coordinator, including vaccine storage, handling, documentation, and compliance with immunization program requirements. Experience with clinic operations management, including staff scheduling, medical inventory management, and coordination of clinical workflows. Familiarity with OSHA, NIOSH, and federal occupational health regulations governing workplace medical surveillance programs. Experience performing chart audits, quality assurance reviews, and clinical documentation compliance activities. Experience working in federal, law enforcement, military, or government healthcare environments. Physical Requirements: Work is primarily performed in an interior clinical and office environment within a medical clinic setting. Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing medical records, documenting clinical information, and performing administrative duties using computer systems. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods while performing clinical screening procedures, preparing examinees for medical evaluations, and coordinating clinic operations. Ability to perform routine clinical procedures including vital signs assessment, vision screening, audiometric testing, pulmonary function testing (spirometry), electrocardiograms (EKG), phlebotomy, specimen collection, and vaccine administration. Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical diagnostic equipment, clinical instruments, and computer systems. Ability to lift, carry, push, or move medical supplies and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive hand movements associated with clinical procedures and equipment operation. Visual acuity sufficient to read medical documentation, diagnostic results, equipment displays, and electronic health records. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and other professionals in person and through electronic communication systems. Ability to maintain attention to detail and clinical judgment while performing diagnostic screening procedures and documenting medical information.
