Go back South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust Clinical Lead The closing date is 26 July 2026 We have opportunities for 3 experienced Clinical/Counselling Psychologists or CBT Therapists to join Sutton / Merton and Wandsworth Talking Therapies teams as Clinical Lead. These are 3 new posts funded to expand the service. The WTE for each post is: Sutton Talking Therapies 1.0 WTE, Merton Talking Therapies 0.8 WTE and Wandsworth Talking Therapies 0.8 WTE. The services provide evidence-based treatment in line with NHS Talking Therapies guidance and have established staff teams with a focus on reducing health inequalities and staff wellbeing. You will receive regular clinical supervision (based on modality), line management and professional supervision from the Head of Psychology and Psychotherapy for Talking Therapies. You will have opportunities to attend regular clinical training through the Bespoke Mental Health CPD offer. The postholder will: • deliver strong clinical and strategic leadership within Sutton / Merton / Wandsworth Talking Therapies, ensuring provision of a high-quality, safe and effective NHS Talking Therapies Service, • exercise responsibility for the governance of psychological therapy practice within Sutton / Merton / Wandsworth Talking Therapies, ensuring adequate supervision and other governance structures are in place and adhered to, • work collaboratively with clinical, operational and administrative colleagues to ensure provision of effective, evidence-based therapies, • ensure ongoing achievement of key performance metrics, such as completed treatment, reliable recovery and improvement and waiting times standards We are proud to offer agile and flexible working opportunities. In this role you may work Monday to Thursday from 8:00 to 20:00 and Fridays 8:00 to 17:00 (Merton and Wandsworth) or 9:00 to 20:00 / 17:00 (Sutton). Your pattern is negotiable and you will be required to work at least one evening per week. All offers of employment are subject to evidence of right to work in the UK. • Assessed experience of working as a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist or accredited CBT therapist for a minimum of six years, including at least 3 years post-qualification in the designated specialty where the post is located, • Experience of working with a wide variety of clinical presentations across outpatient, community and primary care settings, • Experience in time-limited adult therapy, including CBT and other evidence-based therapies, • Experience of full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care within a multidisciplinary care plan, • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision, • Experience of representing psychological therapies within multi-disciplinary care, • Experience of assessing and treating clients across a range of care settings, including primary care, • Experience in training others in CBT and/or NHS Talking Therapies modalities, • Experience in managing psychological therapy and support staff, • Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent) as accredited by the BPS, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and lifespan development; or equivalent UK-recognised qualification, • Post-graduate training in an evidenced-based psychological therapy from a recognised NHS Talking Therapies course, • Accredited as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist by BABCP for a minimum of 5 years, • Post-doctoral training in additional specialized areas of psychological practice, • Training or accreditation in another NHS Talking Therapies evidence-based therapy, • BABCP Supervisor's accreditation, • Formal qualification as a clinical supervisor in an NHS Talking Therapies therapy (e.g., EMDR, IPT, NET), • Knowledge and application of CBT with adults, • Excellent communication skills, including communicating complex information to clients, families and colleagues, • Leadership and management skills for supervising therapists, • Ability to supervise and coordinate work of psychological therapists and staff, • Knowledge of specialized therapies for difficult-to-treat groups, • Doctoral-level knowledge of research design and multivariate data analysis as used in psychological therapy, • Advanced knowledge of highly specialized therapies and assessment methodologies This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and requires clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
