Electronics Engineer Location: Nottingham (Hybrid / Flexible) Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 + benefits Type: Full-time An exciting engineering hardware consultancy based in Nottingham is looking for a Electronic Design Engineer to join their collaborative team of hardware and software engineers. They work closely with customers to bring real products to life - from initial specification through to production and deployment. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role, offering exposure to a wide variety of industries, technologies, and complex technical challenges. The Role As a Hardware Engineer, you will take ownership of electronic hardware design across the full product lifecycle, while working closely with customers and internal engineering teams. You will: • Design, prototype, and simulate electronic hardware to achieve high first-pass success on A-model designs, • Develop and manage complex hardware designs, including schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout (typically 2–8 layers, mixed-signal), • Work across a wide range of technologies, including MCU/MPU systems, RF, power (DC-DC and AC-DC), analogue sensors, digital logic, FPGAs, and memory devices, • Validate, test, and debug hardware using lab equipment, with occasional travel to external test facilities, • Apply Design for Testability (DFT), Design for Manufacture (DFM), and Design for Production (DFP) throughout the development lifecycle, • Review designs against best practice and produce clear, high-quality technical documentation, • Provide technical guidance and problem-solving support to customers, • Communicate effectively with customers, providing updates and responding to technical queries throughout project delivery What They’re Looking For • A degree (2:1 or above) in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, • 4+ years’ experience in a hardware-focused electronics design role, • Experience working in a customer-facing or consultancy-based engineering environment, • Strong hands-on experience in hardware design, test, and debugging using lab equipment, • Familiarity with mixed-signal and IoT-style embedded systems, • Solid understanding of EMC, Design for Compliance (DoC), DFT, DFM, and DFP, • Experience using Altium Designer (preferred), or other eCAD tools such as Eagle, KiCad, Fusion, or PADS, • Strong communication skills and the ability to produce clear documentation for non-technical stakeholders, • A proactive, organised approach with the ability to manage workload independently with support from team leads Why Apply? • Work on real products from concept to production, • Broad technical exposure across industries and technologies, • Customer-facing role with genuine engineering influence, • Hybrid and flexible working, • Competitive salary and strong benefits package, including private healthcare, pension, and life assurance If you’re a hands-on Electronics Engineer who enjoys variety, customer interaction, and seeing products through to reality, this is a role well worth exploring.
