Due to continued growth and the award of new contracts, we are now looking for a Translation Assistant Project Manager to join our busy Birmingham office. About the Role As a Translation Assistant Project Manager, you will manage translation projects end to end, ensuring timely delivery, commercial viability, and high-quality outcomes. You will work with a wide range of public sector and private clients, coordinating professional linguists and acting as the key point of contact throughout each project. The ideal candidate will be a highly organised multitasker, able to work calmly under pressure, communicate clearly with clients and linguists, and take pride in delivering work to a consistently high standard. Previous experience in translation project management or the language services industry is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities • Receive and manage translation projects via email and our secure platform, from initial request through to delivery and invoicing readiness, • Prepare accurate quotes based on volume, language combinations, turnaround times, and client requirements, • Negotiate rates with translators while maintaining quality standards and commercial profitability, • Prepare and format files for translation, • Allocate work to suitably qualified linguists and monitor progress to ensure deadlines and specifications are met, • Carry out basic quality checks before delivery to ensure client requirements are satisfied, • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients and linguists throughout the project lifecycle, • Prioritise urgent and high-risk projects effectively during peak periods, • Ensure all project data, notes, and updates are accurately recorded on internal systems, • Process amendments, cancellations, or additions to projects and ensure all parties are informed and confirmations issued, • Arrange subcontracted services where internal resources are unavailable, • Manage client accounts, building strong relationships with key stakeholders and understanding long-term project needs, • Work closely with the Recruitment Assistant to ensure appropriate linguists are sourced for current and future projects, • Support colleagues across departments when information is required, • Handle incoming telephone calls from clients and linguists when necessary, • Provide team cover during absences and support peak workloads, • Strong IT and computer literacy, • Excellent organisational and communication skills, • Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously, • Previous experience in translation project management or the language services industry, • Degree (BA or MA) in Translation Studies, Languages, or a related field, • Proactive, enthusiastic, and keen to take initiative, • A positive team player who contributes to a supportive working environment, • Commercially aware, with an understanding of how project management impacts profitability, • Committed to continuous learning and professional development, • Able to adapt and grow in a fast-paced, evolving environmentDecision-Making & Accountability, • Prioritising workloads during high-volume periods, • Identifying when issues or capacity pressures need to be escalated to management, • Assessing project complexity and selecting appropriate linguists, • Evaluating translator rates against client pricing and seeking authorisation where required, • Determining when client queries or complaints should be escalatedWhat We Offer, • A stable, permanent role within a growing and respected language services provider, • Genuine career progression opportunities, • A supportive, team-oriented working environment, • Early responsibility and exposure to high-profile public sector clients
