Governance Lead & Registrar Salary: £45,000– £50,000 FTE I am working with a long-established higher education institution that is seeking to appoint a Governance Lead & Registrar. This is a senior leadership role, central to the effective governance, compliance, and academic administration of the organisation. The Role As the lead governance officer, the successful candidate will: • Provide authoritative advice on governance, legislation, and policy., • Act as Registrar, maintaining accurate records and overseeing Fellowship/academic processes., • Serve as Secretary to governing bodies and committees, preparing agendas, minutes, and managing compliance., • Ensure regulatory compliance, including charity law and data protection., • Lead and contribute to strategic governance projects. This is a high-profile role requiring discretion, political sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively with trustees, senior academics, and professional colleagues. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will bring: • A degree (or equivalent experience)., • Significant experience in governance within higher education, charity, legal, or public sectors., • Strong knowledge of charity governance and compliance frameworks., • Excellent organisational, drafting, and digital skills., • The ability to work collaboratively across diverse stakeholders. Desirable: legal training, knowledge of higher education governance structures, or experience in data protection compliance.
