Job Title: Senior Plumber Department: Works (Mechanical Services) Reports to: Building and Services Manager Location: City Centre (no on-site parking) Salary & Benefits Salary: £51,325 per annum Hours: 39 hours per week Mon–Thurs: 8:00am – 5:00pm Fri: 8:00am – 4:00pm Contract: Permanent Holiday: 25 days + 8 public holidays Pension: Generous matched scheme (e.g. 5% employee contribution = 10% employer contribution) Additional Benefits: Free lunch while on duty Private healthcare & dental scheme (post-probation) Employee Assistance Programme Cycle to Work scheme Gym membership (subsidised) Staff Sports & Social Club About the Role We are representing a client seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Plumber to lead and support an in-house mechanical services team. This is a hands-on role, supervising a small team of 3 plumbers, while actively delivering plumbing, gas, and mechanical works across a large and complex estate. You will take ownership of day-to-day operations, ensuring high standards of service delivery, compliance, and safety, while contributing technical expertise to both maintenance and project work. Key Responsibilities • Lead, supervise, and support a team of plumbers, ensuring high-quality workmanship and productivity, • Plan and coordinate reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities, • Work hands-on across a wide range of systems including:, • Hot and cold-water systems, • Heating and gas systems, • Plant and infrastructure, • Drainage, ventilation, and cooling systems, • Act as the Gas Safe Responsible Person and Deputy Responsible Person for Water Management, • Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, including gas safety and water hygiene, • Oversee and manage external contractors on-site, • Contribute to mechanical design reviews, project delivery, and system improvements, • Support sustainability initiatives to reduce energy use and carbon footprint, • Maintain accurate records and support compliance reporting, • Participate in and help coordinate the out-of-hours rota, • Promote a strong culture of health & safety, accountability, and continuous improvement About You Qualifications Gas Safe Registered (CCNI, CENI, CKRI, HTRI, METI) City & Guilds Level 2+ in Heating & Ventilation (Level 3 desirable) Relevant mechanical/plumbing qualification or advanced apprenticeship Experience • Proven experience supervising a small team of plumbers or mechanical engineers, • Strong background in maintenance of building services within a commercial or public environment, • Experience with:, • BMS (Building Management Systems), • Heating, plumbing, drainage, and ventilation systems, • Gas appliances and pressurised systems, • Experience in water management compliance (Responsible Person role desirable), • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with contractors, • Experience in heritage or complex estates (advantageous) Skills Strong problem-solving and attention to detail Ability to read technical drawings and specifications Good IT skills (MS Office) Excellent communication and team leadership skills Additional Information • This role requires flexibility and participation in an on-call rota, • The role is based in the city centre with no on-site parking available (cycle facilities and public transport options nearby) Why Apply?
