Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY The Data Analyst supports the Director of Institutional Research & Analytics by collecting, managing, analyzing, and translating institutional data into clear, actionable insights that support decision-making, accreditation, compliance, and continuous improvement. This role plays a vital behind-the-scenes function—turning raw data into meaningful stories that help leaders, faculty, and staff steward the university’s mission with wisdom and clarity. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, analytically curious, and collaborative, with the ability to work across departments and communicate complex data in accessible ways. In a faith-based university context, this role also requires discretion, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in service. Position Specific Responsibilities: Data Collection & Management • Collect, clean, validate, and maintain institutional data from multiple sources (SIS, LMS, surveys, financial aid systems, HR, admissions, etc.)., • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and proper documentation of data definitions and methodologies., • Support the development and maintenance of data dictionaries, reporting calendars, and standardized datasets., • Assist in implementing and refining data governance practices under the direction of the Director of IR&A.Reporting & Analytics, • Produce recurring internal and external reports (e.g., enrollment, retention, persistence, completion, course success, faculty load)., • Support accreditation, state, federal, and consortium reporting (e.g., IPEDS, NC-SARA, THECB, TRACS, ATS, ABHE, DOE), as assigned., • Develop dashboards, scorecards, and visualizations for leadership and department use., • Conduct ad hoc analyses to answer strategic and operational questions.Survey & Assessment Support, • Assist with survey administration, data analysis, and reporting (student satisfaction, alumni outcomes, course evaluations, climate surveys, etc.)., • Support assessment of student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness measures., • Help translate findings into clear summaries, charts, and narratives for diverse audiences.Collaboration & Communication, • Work closely with admissions, academic affairs, student services, finance, and other departments to understand data needs., • Provide technical and analytical support to campus partners using institutional data responsibly., • Prepare data summaries and briefing materials for committees, leadership meetings, and planning initiatives.Compliance, Confidentiality & Quality Assurance, • Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical handling of sensitive data (FERPA, institutional policies)., • Follow established data security protocols and reporting standards., • Assist the Director of IR&A in audit preparation and documentationUniversity-Wide Responsibilities, • Model core organizational beliefs and values; communicate openly and effectively within and across departments. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, statistics, mathematics, information systems, social sciences, education, or a related field., • Demonstrated experience with data analysis, reporting, and visualization., • Proficiency with Excel (advanced functions), databases, and reporting tools., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy., • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work independently., • Experience in higher education, institutional research, or institutional effectiveness., • Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., Jenzabar, Banner, Colleague) and learning management systems., • Experience with tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SPSS, R, Python, or SQL., • Knowledge of accreditation and regulatory reporting requirements.
