Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Clinical Nurse Supervisor (CNS) is responsible for planning and organizingthe nursing clinical practice activities and nursing administrative operationalduties. He/she works closely with the CMO/ Medical Director to implement the Quality Improvement activities and Quality Monitoring for the Health Center. He/she oversees other nursing staff, certified medical assistants, and patient navigators.The CNS ensures that clinical services are coordinated to provide a seamless, integrated system of care that is high value, cost effective and customer focused. He/she is committed to creating a work environment that fosters pride, teamwork and continuous learning and associate ability to meet patient needs. He/she must have knowledge of specialty services and related clinical standards and be aware of the changing health care environment locally and nationwide. The CNS must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills and have an understanding and acceptance of Standards of Service Excellence. SPECIALIZED SKILLS: Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects: lead and mentor others as needed to accomplish projects; ability to think critically, develop conceptual designs for clinical services and plan and organize successful projects; demonstrates the ability to function autonomously and is an independent decision maker; demonstrates effectiveness as a group leader and participant and the ability to collaborate with multiple members of the health care and administrative leadership team; ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to manage care appropriate to the age of the patient served within areas of responsibility; incorporates knowledge of the principles of growth and development into service design and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patients age specific needs. PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Manages the day-to-day activities in accordance with Health Center policies and procedures. • Analyzes and resolves problems independently by listening and responding appropriately, • Knows how and when to refer decisions to others, • Verbal and written communications are consistently appropriate, clear, and accurate, • Contributes to the development, maintenance and administration of up-to-date heath center policies and procedures, • Is knowledgeable of and consistently enforces all Health Center policies and procedures, • Ensures clinical compliance with external regulatory bodies and other review and standards boards, • Actively participates either individually or as a team member on committees and in special projects, • Encourages associate participation, • Organizes, facilitates and/or coaches multidisciplinary quality improvement teams in conducting performanceimprovement activities and process design., • Collaborates with Osborn's QI/QA committee whose goal is to identify opportunities for improving quality of services., • Fosters development of a culture of Quality Improvement and safety, and a learning environment that empowers, enriches, and supports associates and teams to provide high-quality, cost effective services, • Responsible for developing goals and Quality Improvement measures and for coordinating the process of collecting, reporting and analyzing data that represents outcomes., • Ensures a culture of Quality Improvement and safety, and a learning environment that empowers, enriches, and supports associates and teams in order to provide high-quality, cost-effective services., • Identifies areas for improvement and developing the outcome measurement, analytics and Improvement process., • Identifies key metrics on an annual basis to measure performance in clinical specialties: Obstetrics, Pediatrics andFamily Practice., • Identifies necessary actions to achieve outcomes using data from patient concerns, literature, and events to identify ongoing QI/QA activities. Contributes to the development on annual goals, objectives and departmental budget and actively facilitates the achievement of budgeted goals and cost objectives and the on-going evaluation of results. • Assists with the development of annual goals and objectives in accordance with the Health Center's strategic plan, • Forecasts departmental activity and resource needs and provides input to the development of the annual budget including technology needs., • Actively facilitates the achievement of budgeted goals and cost objectives., • Interprets budget to staff and sets expectations for staff involvement in cost containment.Regulatory Compliance, • Maintains knowledge of credentialing and regulatory requirements., • Prepares for audits and site visits (e.g., HRSA OSV, FTCA)., • Ensures documentation and licensure compliance for all clinical staff, • Thoroughly and accurately evaluates performances of other clinical personnel yearly., • Discusses evaluation and develops specific action plans to improve or enhance staff performance aligned with the goals of the Health Center., • Provides feedback throughout the year to help other clinical personnel meet standards., • Ensures that clinical employees are properly educated to perform assigned duties., • Consistently plans for clinical staffing of the unit in coordination with Practice Manager., • Implements guidance, counseling and the disciplinary process with diplomacy and skill, • Consistently maintains an effective service-oriented approach in working with health center staff and visitors, • Maintains working relationships that reflect mutual respect, courtesy, and a professionalism, • Ensures the implementation of standards of care, care delivery model, policies and procedures, that guide and support the provisions of care to patients served Education • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field of study required., • RN License, • Demonstrated success in leadership in a community health care facility for a minimum of five (5) consecutive years
