Positions: 3x Procurement Officer / Buyer (2x Sourcing & 1x Operational) Location: Bristol City Centre Onsite: 4 days per week, WFH Fridays Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 + guaranteed £8,000 bonus Benefits: Full funding for professional qualifications Industry: Maritime & Defence (experience beneficial but not essential) ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a proactive, commercially minded Procurement Officer to join our growing Procurement function. This hybrid role blends both Sourcing and Operational Procurement, giving you full lifecycle exposure across supplier identification, tendering, negotiation, PO management, supplier performance, and delivery assurance. Working within a fast-paced SME environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the business has robust, competitive, and reliable supply solutions. You will lead structured sourcing activity while also managing day‑to‑day procurement operations to maintain supply continuity and support project delivery. You will build strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers, acting as a key point of contact for both strategic sourcing initiatives and operational orderbook management. Through effective engagement, commercial insight, and a hands-on approach, you will help strengthen supplier capability, performance, and long-term value. This role offers broad exposure across the business, working closely with stakeholders in Projects, Bids, Business Development, Engineering, and the wider Procurement team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Sourcing & Commercial • Lead sourcing activity from initial requirement through to supplier selection and contract award, • Develop and issue RFQs, ITTs, and tender documentation, ensuring clear and compliant processes, • Conduct market research and supplier analysis to identify opportunities and mitigate risk, • Negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to deliver best value while maintaining strong supplier partnerships, • Support the development and delivery of sourcing strategies aligned to business and programme needs, • Ensure robust supplier onboarding and smooth handover into operational delivery Operational Procurement • Raise and manage purchase orders in line with business requirements and procurement processes, • Actively manage the orderbook to ensure on-time delivery and accurate supplier commitments, • Expedite deliveries and proactively resolve supply or delivery issues, • Maintain accurate system data and documentation across all procurement activities, • Monitor supplier performance through regular engagement, follow-up, and issue resolution Cross-Functional Collaboration & Risk Management • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Sourcing, Operational Procurement, Projects, Bids & Business Development, • Identify commercial and supply chain risks, escalating and implementing mitigation strategies where required, • Support Assistant Procurement Officers with day-to-day activities and escalation, • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Procurement function WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Procurement or Supply Chain, • Strong understanding of both sourcing and operational procurement fundamentals, • Proven negotiation skills with the ability to deliver value while maintaining strong supplier relationships, • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, • Strong analytical capability, including advanced Excel skills, • Proactive, self-motivated, and comfortable working at pace in a dynamic SME environment, • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally, • MRP / ERP experience and ability to adapt to new systems, • Full driving licence and willingness to travel within the UK and internationally, • Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC), • Interest in the defence sector (desirable), • Relevant qualifications (CIPS, APICS, NVQ, Degree) desirable but not essential WHY JOIN US • Be part of a collaborative, growing SME delivering critical solutions into the defence sector, • Work in a high-impact environment where your contribution is visible and valued, • Join a supportive Procurement team that champions collaboration, continuous improvement, and shared success, • Opportunities for development across both Sourcing and Operational Procurement, plus exposure to project-related activity, • Influence how the Procurement function evolves, with the chance to shape processes and ways of working, • Gain exposure to a diverse supply chain, strengthening your commercial and operational skillset, • Competitive salary, guaranteed bonus, and funded professional qualifications HOW TO APPLY Send your CV to:
