Job Description Summary We are looking for educators who value relationships, see children as capable and curious learners, and bring both intention and joy into their classroom each day. 2nd Presbyterian Weekday School is hiring a Co-Teacher for our 2-year-old classroom for the 2026–2027 school year! We are seeking passionate, nurturing, and creative early childhood educators to join our vibrant teaching community. For candidates interested in beginning sooner, earlier start dates may be available. At 2nd Pres., we believe that meaningful learning begins with strong, safe, and healthy relationships between teachers and children. From that foundation, our curriculum blends support for developmental milestones with a deep respect for children’s natural curiosity. Through hands-on, experiential learning, we create engaging environments where children can explore, discover, and grow. We serve children ages 6 weeks through Kindergarten and intentionally utilize our beautiful building and expansive outdoor campus to enrich learning experiences across all age groups. We offer a variety of opportunities to meet candidates where they are: • Co-Teaching Positions for those with a degree and classroom experience, • Mentorship Roles for individuals eager to begin a career in early childhood education, • After Care Positions for those interested in working with children in our afternoon program (3:00–5:00 PM)Our school year runs from late August through May and follows a traditional academic calendar, including Christmas and Spring Breaks. All staff receive year-round pay, providing consistency and support beyond the school year. Hours available: Half Day (8:45–12:45) or Full Day (8:45–3:15) Duties • Collaborate in weekly planning sessions with your co-teacher or mentor teacher to design and implement engaging curriculum aligned with developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards., • Lead by example by fostering a positive, collaborative team environment- supporting teaching team success through modeling best practices and offering guidance when needed., • Plan and facilitate both individual and small/large group experiences that actively engage children and support their social, cognitive, and emotional development., • Build strong partnerships with families through consistent communication, including informal conversations, progress updates, parent events, and conferences., • Ensure full compliance with all center policies and state licensing regulations., • Maintain a safe, healthy, and welcoming classroom environment, including upholding high standards for cleanliness, hygiene, and child safety., • Keep accurate and organized records, documentation, and classroom materials., • Engage in ongoing professional growth by maintaining a personal development plan and participating in continuous quality improvement efforts. Requirements • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills., • High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment., • An understanding of child development., • Must clear a full background check and must pass health screening., • Requirements include the ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl., • A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception., • Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Nice To Haves • Minimum of 2 years of professional childcare experience preferred., • Associate's degree in early childhood education or related field of study with a minimum of 30 Credits in early childhood education preferred., • Bachelor 's Degree in education or related field of study., • Salary is commensurate with degree and experience. Benefits Position Details: The school year runs from August through May, following a traditional academic calendar. This Co-Teacher position in our 2-year-old classrooms is Monday–Friday, approximately 20+ hours per week, with hours from 8:45 AM – 12:45 PM. The school also covers registration fees for relevant early childhood conferences (such as LECA, KECA, SECA, and NAEYC) as well as required CPR and pediatric first aid training., • Family-Friendly Environment: Staff may have their enrolled preschool-aged children with them before and after school hours., • Each classroom is provided with a petty cash fund, ensuring teachers are not expected to purchase classroom materials out-of-pocket., • Access to shared resources including a laminating machine, copier, and a dedicated classroom computer for planning, documentation, and communication., • A supportive and appreciative community, including a week-long Teacher Appreciation celebration and regular staff luncheons hosted by board members and families.
