The Position: Lifting Operations Package Manager Vulcain Engineering UK are seeking a Lifting Operations Package Manager to oversee critical lifting activities and crane maintenance across a large‑scale nuclear decommissioning project. This role provides technical leadership in lifting operations and crane maintenance, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient lifting activity management across a complex industrial environment. Some of the main responsibilities of the Lifting Operations Package Manager will include: • Support development and maintenance of lifting policies, procedures, and strategy., • Oversee crane maintenance contracts and coordinate technical and commercial requirements., • Supervise site‑wide crane inspections, maintenance activities, modernisations, and decommissioning works., • Plan and coordinate lifting equipment inspections and maintenance with specialist teams., • Produce work control packs covering all phases of lifting operations., • Review lift plans, validate contractor competence, and ensure safe systems of work., • Support design reviews, testing, and commissioning of lifting equipment and accessories., • Maintain oversight of rigging stores, lifting equipment records, and inspection databases. Alongside a commitment to our values of Care & Compassion, Performance, Team Spirit, and Inclusiveness, we are looking for individuals who can bring the following: • CPCS A61 Appointed Person (Lifting Operations) – Blue Card., • Strong understanding of crane systems, lifting equipment, and operational requirements., • Experience in rigging, slinging, crane supervision, or appointed person duties., • Knowledge of LOLER, PUWER, HSWA, and relevant codes of practice., • Ability to supervise contractors and challenge unsafe practices., • Strong record‑keeping skills and experience writing technical documentation., • Beneficial qualifications include IOSH Managing Safely, supervisory training, or LEEA certifications. Ideally we are seeking permanent staff, but may be able to consider other employment types. Many of our UK projects require high-level security clearance, meaning we can often only consider candidates with an existing, indefinite right to work in the UK.
