Job DescriptionLHH is recruiting a legal assistant for the Cleveland Office of a national law firm. The Legal Assistant will support the Business team. Responsibilities: • Provides skilled, proactive administrative support to assigned attorneys and other team members in the Business Practice Group, • Edits and proofreads complex documents, including proactive review for, and ability to relay, relevant discrepancies/inconsistencies., • Clearly and professionally communicates with attorneys and other members of the legal team on projects, needs, transaction status, etc., • Works with members of the legal team and accounting to gather costs and time in preparation for closing., • Actively supports the billing process, including initial review and comment on BIMs, editing BIMs, obtaining, preparing and/or updating reports, preparing cover letters and/or emails, and following-up on client and attorney inquiries., • Prepares and reviews letters and memoranda according to Firm standards., • Displays strong attention to detail and numeric aptitude., • Anticipates necessary tasks/projects and proactively performs them., • Responds to requestswith a sense of urgency and effectively prioritizes work., • Demonstrates flexibility and ability to manage multiple priorities., • Proactively monitors and communicates deadlines to the legal team as appropriate., • Creates, maintains, and retires files in accordance with the Firm's Information Governance Policy., • Assists in managing client contacts, emails, print documents and incoming and outgoing mail., • May enter time into billing management software.Qualifications:, • 2+ years Legal Assistant experience strongly preferred., • Must demonstrate proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules. Responsibilities: • Prepare documents for all stages of patent preparation and prosecution for attorney review, including draft amendments, responses, Information Disclosure Statements, formal documents, and appropriate transmittal forms., • Assist attorneys and paralegals with maintaining domestic and foreign trademark applications and registrations., • Preparation of communication to clients regarding progression of prosecution of cases in portfolio., • Review and manage docket, providing updated information to attorneys. Regularly update docketing department regarding actions taken., • Prepare client matter request forms for submission to docket department for new cases., • Prepare legal documents and general correspondence from dictation or written format in an accurate and timely manner., • Draft standard correspondence, proofread, edit, and format documents., • Coordination and management of calendars, scheduling, and travel plans., • Input time entries accurately and efficiently into the firm's timekeeping system., • Maintain paper and electronic client and administrative files in accordance with firm procedures and the document management system., • Attention to other administrative tasks including conflict checks, new client/matter intake process, client bills, mail, check requests and expense reports., • Communicate and interact professionally with clients, attorneys, legal team members and staff to deliver a high level of customer service., • Actively participate as a member of the practice group support team to complete work submitted in the Attorney Support Portal.
