Job Description The primary function of this position is to assist Community Credit Union of Florida in living out our Mission, “Always improve the financial well-being of our members and make a positive difference in our community.” The VP, Commercial Lender, supports the Commercial Services department by sourcing and servicing relationships and originating loans. The incumbent ensures compliance with internal policies and procedures and state and federal regulations; ensures all loan documentation is complete and accurate; conducts credit reviews to assess credit risk and ensures risks are adequately identified, assessed, quantified, and controlled. The VP, Commercial Lender, is responsible for attaining established individual and departmental goals and ensuring all activities run smoothly and efficiently for the department. The incumbent ensures lending activities are in the best interest of the members and the Credit Union. Community Credit Union of Florida is an Equal Opportunity Employer and supports a drug-free workplace. ESSENTIAL DUTIES • Meets or exceeds assigned production and activity goals. Engages in business development activities and is responsible for growing the Commercial Loan and Deposit portfolio through increased market penetration with a concentration in commercial real estate lending. Proactively develops and deepens relationships with centers of influence, including business owners, investors, developers, brokers, and other area professionals., • Formulates strategies for developing existing markets and opening new markets, tracks and analyzes economic trends, and provides recommendations for change to senior leadership, stays current with changes in the competitive local landscape, and embraces new business development and marketing strategies to advance the Credit Union’s interests and increase balances., • Researches and evaluates the feasibility of new lending products and makes recommendations. Develops and implements plans for the expansion of commercial lending programs. Keeps abreast of changes in the industry and changing trends in lending and recommends actions that enhance competitiveness., • Analyzes and interprets financial statements, tax returns, project budgets, appraisals, environmental studies, and other relevant documents to ensure lending risks are adequately identified, assessed, quantified, and controlled. Recommends loan structures and terms. Consistently applies decision-making techniques pertaining to inquiries, approvals, and requests to comply with existing policies, procedures, and regulations., • Periodically assesses financial statements, tax returns, and other relevant documents pertaining to existing loans and may recommend risk rating adjustments as defined by policies and procedures. The incumbent completes an annual site visit of each commercial property to cultivate an ongoing relationship and assist in the risk rating determination., • Maintains a thorough knowledge of credit union membership/loan policy, dividend rates, interest rates, and required document disclosures and ensures audit compliance, procedural quality control, and recommends and initiates corrective actions., • Contributes to the overall financial health of the credit union; implements cost controls, charges appropriate rates and fees, and adheres to and monitors expenses to budget. Collaborates with team members to ensure quality member service is delivered to members., • Maintains ongoing communication with the immediate supervisor and others directly related, informing them of all pertinent problems, irregularities, new developments, changes, and other important information that could potentially impact the Credit Union’s interests., • Represents CCU in community, business, and service organizations to enhance market visibility and penetration., • Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations., • Performs other related duties and works on special projects as assigned., • Demonstrates enthusiastic support of corporate mission, core values, and long-term objectives by performing job duties within our bylaws, regulations, Board of Directors policies, established internal and external service standards, and our work procedures while possessing adequate product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge assessment., • Delivers service to both internal and external members that is in alignment with the credit union’s Service Promises and meets all established service goals., • Abides by CCU’s Service Promises when helping a member or co-worker to ensure timely responsiveness to the individual’s needs. The environment for this position is an open office that is clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which the individual is free to move about at will. Requirements include driving a vehicle approximately 75% of the time. Possess excellent member contact and verbal and written communication skills. POSITION REQUIREMENTS These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines. • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and eight (8) to ten (10) or more years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work-related experience must consist of direct involvement in commercial lending. Educational experience, in-house training sessions, or formal education must be applicable to the financial industry., • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in commercial sales and underwriting. Professional requirements include a strong history of building and servicing local loan & deposit portfolios and deepening Commercial relationships., • Possesses the ability to analyze and interpret financial statements, complex credit structures, financial data, and tax returns to recommend sound credit decisions (experience as a credit analyst preferred); in-depth knowledge of state and federal compliance regulations required., • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to lead and provide training for team members. The incumbent will mentor and coach teammates within the department and the credit union and demonstrate the ability to share skills., • Demonstrated digital aptitude with the ability to leverage commercial lending systems, workflows, and technologies to enhance efficiency and risk management., • Advanced math skills: the ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate and ratio; draft and interpret graphs and technical documents; apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, quadratic equations and permutations; apply mathematical operations to tasks., • Ability to create requests for credit from credit interviews through document collection, underwriting, and creation of a credit memo. Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and communicate clearly with members and team members., • Ability to plan individual and department activities (setting objectives, developing strategies, budgeting, and developing policies and procedures) shows initiative to organize various functions necessary to accomplish department or credit union objectives.
