What You’ll Do The DGA has a long history of negotiating effective and financially rewarding residuals formulas to compensate DGA members for the reuse of their work. Residuals are a benefit in perpetuity, and the Special Handling & Estates Manager plays a key role by overseeing the documentation and proper handling of residuals for beneficiaries and estates. Additionally, this position oversees residuals which may require additional verification or review. A successful candidate will communicate effectively with DGA members, studios, and estate representatives as well as with internal DGA departments. This position is on-site at our Los Angeles headquarters 5 days a week. Essential Duties & Responsibilities • Responsible for overseeing the documentation and proper handling of residuals for estates., • Work internally with the DGA Legal Department to oversee and review any residuals payments with tax levies, bankruptcy, garnishment, or community property issues., • Serve as the point of contact for members and estate payees regarding loan out company status changes and dissolutions., • Track down members/payees to obtain current contact information, using TLO when needed., • Review payments for accuracy and contact residual payers for corrections., • Implement improvements to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. Minimum Qualifications • Proficiency in MS Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel, • Outstanding organizational, administrative, and communication (oral and written) skills., • Strong attention to detail., • Excellent research and problem-solving skills., • Highly collaborative style, positive attitude, and strong work ethic., • Discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive and confidential information., • Ability to understand and interpret contract language., • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field., • Previous law firm or legal experience as a legal assistant/secretary or paralegal is a plus.
