Job DescriptionRole summary We’re expanding our maintenance team at our Southwest Chicago chemical facility near Midway Airport. This is a hands-on reliability role supporting production across first and second shift coverage. Electrical expertise is essential; welding capability is a plus. Expect mandatory overtime, weekend/holiday support, after-hours call-ins, and shift adjustments as operations require. Key responsibilities • Own the facility fire protection system—inspection, functionality checks, and coordination with safety., • Perform three-phase electrical work: diagnose faults, bend conduit, wire/install motors and controls., • Troubleshoot and repair core assets: vacuum pumps, drum turners, mixers, boilers, plant steam, and air compressors., • Install, modify, and maintain process piping along with hydraulic and pneumatic components (gauges, valves, regulators, and related devices)., • Execute PMs: verify drives and belts, monitor fluid levels, replace filters, and complete assigned preventive routines., • Assist with planning and execution of new equipment, electrical drops, and pipe runs; support commissioning., • Document findings, repairs, and parts usage promptly in AMMS and close work orders accurately., • Follow OSHA and site procedures: hot work permitting, LOTO, PPE, fall protection, and confined space protocols., • Contribute to facility upkeep—basic carpentry, housekeeping, grounds care, and seasonal tasks (including snow removal)., • Perform other related tasks as assigned to meet production needs.Qualifications, • High school diploma or GED, plus a related associate’s degree, trade certification, or completed apprenticeship (vocational/technical or college)., • 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience; chemical process equipment exposure preferred (mixers, pumps, steam, fabrication, electrical, welding)., • Applied math skills relevant to maintenance and fabrication., • Hands-on proficiency with hand/power tools, machine tools, and pressure indication instruments., • Basic plumbing and pipefitting knowledge., • Computer skills to navigate the intranet, AMMS, and online training modules., • Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts, scissor lifts)., • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for occasional company vehicle use., • English communication skills—speak, read, and write effectively across teams., • Root-cause problem solver with a collaborative approach and strong attention to detail., • Organized work practices; maintain clean, hazard-free areas., • Consistent, punctual attendance.Physical demands, • Frequent reaching and manual dexterity; regular talking/hearing., • Activities include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and balancing., • Lift/move up to 70 lbs frequently; up to 100 lbs occasionally., • Vision: near/far acuity, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment., • Must qualify medically and be fit-tested to wear a respirator; able to work in confined spaces.Work environment, • Regular exposure to moving equipment and dust/fumes., • Frequent wet/humid conditions and electrical shock hazards., • Occasional heights, outdoor work, and temperature extremes (heat/cold)., • Successful candidate must be authorized to work in the U.S., • Equal Opportunity Employer: Minority/Female/Disability/VeteranPreferred strengths, • Mechanical troubleshooting, • Electrical repair, • Maintenance and repair
