Position: Sole Legal Counsel Location: Cambridge region (3 days office based) Salary Guide: Up to £70,000 (depending on experience) + bonus & benefits Role Type: Full-Time, Permanent An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sole Legal Counsel to join a growing and innovative business in the Cambridge area. This role offers the chance to take full ownership of the legal function, acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders while supporting a dynamic, technology-driven environment. We are open to hearing from qualified lawyers (qualified Solicitors, Legal Executives, Barristers) as well as experienced non-qualified legal professionals with the right commercial and practical experience. The Role As Sole Legal Counsel, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the business across a broad range of legal matters. This is a hands-on, commercially focused position where you will work closely with teams across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Commercial Agreements: • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including supplier, distribution, NDA, licensing and services agreements, • Support internal stakeholders with contract negotiations and risk assessment, • Lead on compliance across key areas including data protection (GDPR), corporate governance and regulatory requirements, • Develop and implement internal policies, procedures and compliance frameworks, • Advise on a range of employment matters including contracts, policies and employee relations issues, • Support the protection and management of IP including patents, trademarks and trade secrets, • Assist with board and corporate governance matters, including filings and statutory compliance, • Provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice across the organisation, • Work closely with teams across engineering, sales, procurement, finance and HR, • Translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable advice About You You will be a commercially minded legal professional, either qualified or non-qualified with a minimum of 4 years’ experience, who thrives in a standalone role and enjoys working closely with the business. Key Requirements: • Experience in handling a broad range of commercial agreements and data protection, • Some exposure to employment law, • Strong drafting and negotiation skills, • Ability to provide clear, practical legal advice to non-legal stakeholders, • Experience in technology, manufacturing, or engineering environments, • Exposure to IP matters or regulatory frameworks, • Experience working with international partners or distributors What’s on Offer • Base salary up to £70,000 per annum (depending on experience), • Bonus and benefits, • Hybrid working (3 days in the office), • Opportunity to help shape and build the legal function, • High visibility role with senior stakeholder engagement Interested?
