Junior Acoustician – Building Acoustics Location: Colchester (office-based) Salary: £25,000 – £30,000 (depending on experience) Type: Permanent, Full-Time About the Company My Client is a specialist acoustic consultancy working across the UK and internationally, delivering high-quality building and environmental acoustics services on major commercial, residential, education, and government projects. Recent work includes developments such as LSE Bankside, Raffles London, and large-scale MOD and MOJ sites. They consistently punches above its weight—handling complex, high-profile, and technically demanding acoustic design projects. The Role We are seeking a Junior or Graduate Acoustician to join our Colchester team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong and ambitious graduate looking to develop their career within a close-knit consultancy that offers significant hands-on experience and rapid progression. You’ll be involved in all aspects of acoustic consultancy work, including: • Conducting on-site sound and vibration surveys, • Preparing technical reports and acoustic calculations, • Supporting planning and design-stage assessments, • Liaising with architects, contractors, and design teams, • Working across a broad range of building types — from schools and hotels to large residential and commercial developments, • This is an office-based and field-based role with regular travel to project sites across the UK. Requirements Essential: • BSc or MSc in Acoustics or related field (preferably from Salford, ISVR Southampton, or Heriot-Watt), • Strong technical and scientific understanding of acoustics (not just audio engineering or sound production), • Full UK driving licence, • Willingness to travel nationwide and occasionally work irregular hours for time-dependent measurements, • Up to 1 year’s experience in an acoustic consultancy, • Experience conducting on-site measurements or writing technical reports, • Familiarity with relevant standards and guidance (e.g. BS 8233, BB93, ProPG, etc.) Personal Attributes • Excellent work ethic and self-motivation, • Keen to learn and be mentored by senior consultants, • Flexible, practical, and hands-on approach to work, • Clear communicator with strong attention to detail What’s on Offer • £25,000 – £30,000 depending on experience, • Full training and career development from experienced senior consultants, • Exposure to major, high-profile UK and international projects, • Clear progression path — opportunity to become self-sufficient within 3–5 years, • Supportive, close-knit working environment
