Job Description The Institutional Data Analyst position is responsible for the design, creation, and maintenance of reporting data to support recruitment and retention strategy, quality programs, institutional compliance, and student success initiatives. As a junior member of the team, the position will operate in rotation on regular Enrollment deliverables, surveys, dashboard updates, and institutional compliance initiatives, with an emphasis on building knowledge and experience in Institutional Research and Effectiveness. After onboarding, this position may work up to two days a week remotely and will work in collaboration with the team members from the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness and other university offices on assigned projects. The position is responsible for data security and data accuracy in reporting. Responsibilities/Duties: • Extract, combine, and manipulate data sets from Ellucian Banner ERP, Slate CRM and other external data sources to drive effective strategic and programmatic decision-making, research, compliance for the enrollment and student success areas. Maintain Enrollment and Student Success scheduled reports in Argos as assigned. Positively interact with requestors as required to clarify or gather requirements., • Write queries, programs, scripts or macros to aid in data extraction and analysis, using Copilot AI responsibly as needed. Fully document data queries and process for report writing., • Serve as a change agent as the unit further adopts Slate and PowerBI. Coordinate with CRM Administrator, IT or operations as needed., • Manage all aspects of survey administration, including data collection, data analysis, report writing, and presentations for surveys as assigned, with an emphasis on Enrollment and Student Success. Liaison with internal stakeholders and external vendors as necessary to maintain and administer surveys., • Create, edit, and maintain internal and external reports using R, Excel, or other data analysis tools., • Perform statistical analysis; interpret statistical outputs for enrollment and retention leaders, faculty and other administrators for programmatic and business decisions; generate charts, tables, and other visualizations. Analyze National Student Clearinghouse Student Tracker data for patterns in enrollment and student outcomes., • Analyze, translate, and disseminate data in user-friendly manner, using data visualization, visual documents (e.g., tables, charts, graphs, etc.) and disseminate results via appropriate electronic media, such as web sites, written reports and PowerPoint decks, MS Teams and in-person presentations., • Perform other duties as assigned, such as serving on committees, attending events, being an institutional contact, etc. Skill Sets: • Proficiency in SQL required; must demonstrate ability and willingness to learn R as part of the position, • Data visualization experience in Power BI preferred, • Demonstrated ability to clean, merge, maintain and analyze large data sets, • Excel skills and expertise in using Charts, Macros, Formulas and Pivot Tables., • Work effectively as part of an analytics team and build relationships across functional teams such as Enrollment, Student Success, and the Registrar's Office, • Ability to work with external providers for surveys and data analysis, • Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines while maintaining priority on primary account., • Maintain confidentiality, demonstrate knowledge and understanding of ethics in data collection and analysis. Comply with FERPA and data privacy regulations., • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, • Strong attention to detail, • Familiarity with Ellucian Banner ERP and CRMs (Slate) helpful, • Familiarity with survey tools such as Qualtrics helpful, • Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University Chicago Minimum Experience Required: One to three years of experience working as a data analyst, or in a computer, strategic planning and/or research support role. Demonstrated technical expertise working with a large database (e.g. Ellucian Banner ERP), and Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated success in writing or revising SQL or R scripts for data extraction and automated reporting. Prior experience in higher education preferred, especially in Enrollment, Student Success or Institutional Research/Effectiveness. Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required in educational research, data science, business analytics, social/behavioral sciences or related field. Compensation and Benefits: Starting range is dependent upon individual qualifications and experience.
