About the Role Business Intelligence Analyst The Business Intelligence Analyst serves as a strategic partner to FP&A, business leaders, and IT, translating financial, operational, and strategic business needs into scalable reporting, analytics, and business intelligence solutions. This role combines strong technical expertise with financial and business acumen to improve data accessibility, reporting capabilities, operational efficiency, and decision support across the organization. The Business Intelligence Analyst partners closely with FP&A, business leaders, and the data warehouse team to transform complex financial and operational data into trusted insights that support informed business decisions. Position Information • Primary Work Location: Fargo, ND or St. Louis Park, MN, • Work Environment: On-Site, • Work Type: Full-time, ExemptResponsibilities Finance and Business Partnership • Partner with Finance, FP&A, business leaders, and IT to understand reporting, planning, forecasting, and analytics needs and develop practical solutions that support business goals., • Lead conversations with stakeholders to understand business needs, current processes, challenges, data sources, and desired outcomes., • Translate business needs into clear requirements, process documentation, report specifications, and prioritized projects., • Manage and prioritize reporting and analytics requests, balancing ongoing reporting, strategic projects, data quality, and ad hoc needs., • Develop a strong understanding of business systems and processes to identify gaps, clarify responsibilities, and recommend improvements. Business Intelligence, Reporting, and Analytics • Design, develop, maintain, and improve Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and analytical tools for executive and operational audiences., • Analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, variances, risks, opportunities, and performance drivers, and communicate insights clearly., • Establish consistent reporting definitions, calculations, measures, and business rules while reducing manual reporting, consolidating duplicate reports, and increasing automation and self-service capabilities., • Use advanced Excel capabilities for analysis, reconciliation, forecasting, scenario modeling, and business reporting., • Support self-service reporting by creating reliable datasets, reusable report templates, clear documentation, and user guidance. Data Modeling and Technical Development • Develop and maintain Power BI semantic models using dimensional-modeling principles, well-defined relationships, measures, dimensions, and hierarchies., • Use SQL, DAX, and Power Query to query, validate, transform, and analyze data., • Leverage Microsoft Fabric and related Microsoft data tools to support reporting and analytical solutions., • Partner with technical resources to ensure reporting requirements are reflected in data models, transformations, and reporting structures., • Support appropriate data security, access controls, and report performance optimization. Data Warehouse and Systems Integration • Partner with IT, data engineering resources, external consultants, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and improve data integration, automation, and accessibility., • Understand how financial and operational data flows across source systems, Rayfin, data warehouse layers, semantic models, and reporting solutions., • Participate in testing and validation of data pipelines, integrations, and reporting outputs and maintain documentation of KPI definitions, business rules, data sources, and reporting logic. Data Quality, Governance, and Continuous Improvement • Monitor and resolve data quality, reconciliation, access, performance, and reporting issues in partnership with appropriate stakeholders., • Drive continuous improvement by automating manual processes, simplifying analysis, improving reporting efficiency, and expanding access to trusted information., • Develop and execute testing, coordinate user acceptance testing, and reconcile reporting to source systems and approved business totals., • Document report purpose, data sources, definitions, assumptions, business rules, and ownership to support consistency and long-term maintainability., • Train and support business users on Power BI, trusted datasets, report interpretation, and self-service analytics., • Support emerging AI and advanced analytics initiatives by helping define business value, data requirements, validation criteria, risks, and governance considerations.Qualifications, • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered., • 3+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, financial analysis, reporting, business analysis, or a related field., • Experience with Microsoft Fabric, OneLake, Fabric Data Warehouse, Lakehouse, Data Factory, or related Microsoft cloud analytics capabilities., • Hands-on experience developing Power BI reports and semantic models using DAX and Power Query., • Working proficiency with SQL for data analysis, reconciliation, testing, and validation., • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements and translating them into reporting, analytics, or process-improvement solutions., • Experience with dimensional data modeling, KPI development, data visualization, data quality, and user acceptance testing., • Working knowledge of financial and operational reporting, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and performance metrics., • Ability to communicate complex data and technical concepts clearly to both business and technical audiences., • Ability to lead requirements discovery, clarify ambiguous requests, define KPIs and business rules, and establish measurable acceptance criteria.Physical Environment The physical requirements listed here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
