Job DescriptionDescription: The Economic Mobility Intern will support economic mobility initiatives within the organization and assist NCRC’s 700+ member organizations across the United States. This position will contribute to efforts that strengthen workforce development, entrepreneurship pathways, and economic self-sufficiency for low-income and minority communities. The intern will work with NCRC staff to assist community-based organizations, government agencies, employers, and other stakeholders as they implement programs that expand opportunity and remove barriers to economic mobility. The ideal candidate will bring academic or practical experience related to public policy, economics, workforce development, public assistance programs, or community development, and will be eager to apply those skills in a mission-driven environment. This role will support project coordination, research, technical assistance activities, and stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, curious, and comfortable engaging with diverse partners and community-based organizations. They must be able to manage multiple priorities, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, and contribute to team projects. The intern should demonstrate interest in and enthusiasm for NCRC’s programmatic and policy efforts to advance economic justice and support community wealth building. The intern will grow skills in project management, policy analysis, community engagement, and program design while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. What You Will Learn: • How national nonprofit organizations support community-based partners in advancing equitable workforce and economic mobility strategies, • Insights into federal and state workforce and public assistance programs, including SNAP E&T and entrepreneurship supports, • Experience supporting member engagement, stakeholder calls, and partner outreach, • Exposure to policy and regulatory analysis in workforce and economic mobility systems, • Hands-on experience assisting with project planning, technical assistance, and collaborative learning efforts, • Practical understanding of benefits cliffs, workforce funding streams, and community wealth strategies, • Development of professional materials, including memos, research briefs, meeting notes, and presentationsRequirements:, • Research entrepreneurship supports, labor market trends, public assistance programs, and workforce development models to inform program and policy strategies, • Analyze federal and state policy, regulations, and guidance related to SNAP E&T, public benefits, workforce systems, and economic mobility initiatives, • Support the development of advocacy materials and briefs focused on benefits cliffs, economic equity, funding for workforce and entrepreneurship programs, and financial inclusion, • Assist with qualitative and quantitative data collection, synthesis, and visualization to support internal strategy and external reporting, • Engage with NCRC member organizations to identify promising practices, collect insights, and support collaborative learning activities, • Contribute to the planning and facilitation of virtual and in-person convenings, workshops, and listening sessions with community partners and stakeholders, • Draft memos, literature reviews, case studies, and slide decks to support policy analysis, program development, and external communications, • Participate in cross-departmental projects focused on community wealth building, racial equity, and inclusive economic development, • Help coordinate project timelines, stakeholder communications, and internal documentation to support effective project management, • Current graduate student in Public Policy, Public Administration, Economics, Business, Urban Planning, or a related field, • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and present key insights clearly, • Interest in workforce development, community development, public benefits programs, and economic mobility strategies, • Strong written and verbal communication skills and comfort interacting with external partners, • Ability to manage tasks, prioritize deadlines, and work independently and collaboratively, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with data analysis tools or platforms This position is based in Washington, DC, near McPherson Square Metro, as part of a hybrid environment with Tuesdays, Thursdays, and sometimes Wednesdays in the office. This paid internship offers an hourly wage of $17.95. Interns are expected to work no more than 30 hours per week
