Job Description Job Summary We are seeking a knowledgeable and safety-focused Forklift Operation and Maintenance Instructor to deliver high-quality training for students entering or advancing in industrial, warehouse, and logistics careers. The instructor will be responsible for teaching safe forklift operation, OSHA compliance, equipment inspections, and preventative maintenance practices. This role combines hands-on training with classroom instruction to ensure students are fully prepared for workplace expectations. Key Responsibilities • Promotes and Maintains a Positive Learning Environment, • Maintains a thorough knowledge and understanding of all school policies, and adheres to and upholds their implementation and enforcement., • Convenes all assigned classes in accordance with their start and end times., • Maintains a safe environment for all students, faculty, and staff., • Safeguards materials, records, and equipment., • Abides by all Federal, state, and accreditation/compliance rules and regulations., • Serves as a professional role model to students., • Inspires student confidence in school, faculty and self, • Maintains professional dress and demeanor, • Maintains appropriate confidentiality when working with students, records, and administrative staff., • Maintains an attitude of enthusiasm and willingness to cooperate and collaborate., • Interacts with students and fellow employees in a courteous, professional, and positive manner., • Treats students with fairness, impartiality, and objectivity., • Provides advanced notification regarding lateness, absence, and vacation schedules during time of substitute assignment., • Fulfills Administrative Responsibilities, • Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student progress, performance, and attendance, using the tools and technology provided by the institution, as required by school policy and procedure., • Maintains appropriate confidentiality when working with students, records, and administrative staff., • Maintains flexibility in fulfilling the instructional needs of the school., • Delivers Instructional Material, • Train students in all areas of HEO operations, • Administer written tests on classroom material and evaluate grades, • Utilizes effective delivery skills (e.g., eye contact, voice intonation, and various questioning techniques)., • Draws on personal experiences to relate the material presented. Deliver engaging classroom and hands-on instruction on forklift operation, inspection, and maintenance. * Teach OSHA standards, workplace safety procedures, and damage prevention best practices. * Demonstrate and supervise students in performing daily equipment checks, basic troubleshooting, and routine maintenance. * Maintain a safe and organized training environment at all times. * Assess student performance through quizzes, practical demonstrations, and skills evaluations. * Provide constructive feedback and coaching to support student success. * Ensure compliance with institutional policies, training objectives, and regulatory requirements. * Collaborate with program coordinators to update training materials and curriculum based on industry standards. * Keep accurate records of student attendance, progress, and certifications. * Model professionalism and workplace readiness to prepare students for employment. Experience Required: Minimum: * High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree or higher preferred). * OSHA forklift certification or equivalent required. * Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in forklift operation, warehouse operations, or related industrial field. * Strong knowledge of OSHA safety standards and preventative maintenance procedures. * Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience preferred. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse learners. * Ability to manage classroom and hands-on lab environments effectively. * Working Conditions: * Combination of classroom, shop, and warehouse training settings. * Physical ability to demonstrate forklift operation, perform inspections, and assist students with hands-on learning. * Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate client, student and program needs.
