This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a team which ensures that the Transport Operations Group personnel and teams are properly prepared to conduct operations in support of the maintenance of the UK nuclear deterrent. As Training and Demonstrations Assistant Head you will lead a team responsible for the planning and delivery of joint and multi-agency, collective and individual training, to the convoy operations group and to the Transport Nuclear Emergency Organisation. You will also oversee the planning and delivery of regulated demonstrations to meet the requirements of legislation and the Defence Nuclear Regulatory authorities. You will have the ability to lead the training team effectively, ensure high-quality training delivery, manage resources efficiently, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in training practices. You are likely to have experience in Defence or Civil Emergency Responder training delivery roles and have worked in joint and/or multi-agency teams. Your strengths in quickly establishing a rapport with a wide range of military, civil authority and commercial organisations, showing flexibility and understanding in accommodating a range of different organisational requirements and aims, will ensure success. You will: • Provide leadership and direction to the Training and Demonstrations team who are responsible for designing, developing, and delivering collective and individual training programmes related to Nuclear Transport Operations Group (NTOG) operations., • Act as Exercise Director or Senior Planning Officer for exercises, training and demonstration events., • Ensure the effective delivery of training to personnel within the NTOG and DNO Transport Nuclear Emergency Organisation, adhering to regulatory requirements and best practices in nuclear training., • Manage the performance and development of training staff, including trainers and exercise planners, to maintain high standards of training delivery., • Coordinate with Subject Matter Experts across Defence and the Civilian Emergency Services to ensure training content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with nuclear safety and security protocols and with multi-agency response doctrine., • Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness, making improvements as necessary to enhance the quality of training delivery., • Oversee the allocation of resources for training activities, including finances, facilities, materials, and equipment, to support effective training delivery., • Address any training-related issues or challenges within the team promptly and implement corrective actions as needed., • Act as a liaison between the training team and leadership team, providing updates on training activities, outcomes, and resource requirements., • Promote a culture of continuous learning and development within the training team, fostering a supportive and engaging training environment., • Be responsible for the maintenance of NTOG training policy and guidance documents. You should note that the nature of the role will require frequent travel around the UK and nights away from home. There may be occasional opportunities for overseas travel.
