Job DescriptionSalary: Stipend Community Engagement Project Internship Organization Description Family Futures mission is to shape a community in which all children are supported to reach their full potential. Our geographic focus is primarily Kent County with some services extending into other communities. We help children ages 0 through 5 by supporting parents, providing connections to resources and programs, and offering ways to monitor and enhance early childhood development. Job Overview Community Engagement Projectinterns gain practical, hands-on experience in a nonprofit setting. This is a unique internship for those seeking experience withcommunity engagement strategies, partner relations,andproject management. TheCommunity Engagement Projectintern will be part of a larger team that provides support to other areasof the organization as needed.This internship position is unpaid, but interns will receive a $500 stipend to help cover costs related to the internship (food, housing, transportation), and college credit can be earned. This internship is to be completed in person,with limitedvirtualopportunities.Theposition will require the intern to attend eventsoccurringon weekends and weeknights;however, those event attendance hours will count towardsthe total hoursneededfor the internship.Required event attendance willaccommodatetheinternsschedule as much as possible, butflexibilityin theinternsschedule is preferredand necessary. This internship will run from May 12th2026 through August 21st, 2026, and will have amandatory orientation on May7th,2026from 9:00 am-2:00 pm at the Family Futures office. This internship can also be extended into multiple internship periods ending in either December 2026or May 2027.Ifinterested in a longer internship period, please reach out to the hiring manager. Family Futures employees, volunteers, and interns serve as spokespersons of Family Futures in the communities we serve. A position at Family Futures may entail the following: • Use of a personal vehicle, • Lifting ofboxes (roughly 25lbs.), • Attendance at community events outside of regularly scheduled hours For anyadaptationsor accommodations for the above information, please reach out to the hiring manager. Roles and Responsibilities • Gaining knowledge of the general principles ofcommunity engagement, • Projectmanagement, • Creating andmodifyingdocuments using Microsoft Office, Canva, etc., • Collecting,inputtingand analyzing data in various online platforms, opportunities to work closelywith data analysis and implementation of findings, • Programand Community Engagement Teamsupport, • Eventand Tablingattendance, coordinating Family Futures representation at local community events, • Assistingwithoutreach planning as a key part of the Community Engagement team andassistingwithprocedures for events, • Attendingand supportingdifferent community coalitionsandworkgroupefforts, • Network with local businesses and organizations to help create successful events, • Research and create developmentallyappropriate activitiesfor children and families, • Assistwith mailings, social media, and other communication efforts, • We are not in thecommunity;we are apart of the community Additional Responsibilities • Other duties as assigned, • Approximately 50% of timeinoffice, 50% out in the community Required Qualifications • Current student in Social Work, Nonprofit Management, Human Services, Communications, Early Childhood Development, Community Engagement, or related field, • Willingness to learn new things and broaden personal comfort zone, • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people, • Interest in prevention-focused social work, community organizing, event planning, or advocacy, • Strong written and verbal communication skills, • Strong organizational and planning skills, • Ability to multitask,work independently, and meet deadlines, • Detail-oriented with effective time management and organizational skills, • Microsoft Office skills, • Ability tomaintainconfidentiality, • At least 15 hours per week Preferred Qualifications • Interest in event management, community outreach, or public policy, • Creative, innovative, and adaptable, • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups of people This role provides a unique experience, blendingprogrammatic supportand community engagement for those looking to make a tangible impact.
