Job DescriptionJob Title: Batch MixerJob Description This role focuses on blending batches to produce adhesives, sealants, and coatings in a production environment. You will prepare and mix raw materials according to detailed recipes, operate forklifts and processing equipment, and ensure products meet quality and safety standards. The position combines hands-on batch mixing, material handling, and equipment setup while working closely with experienced operators. Responsibilities • Blend batches to produce adhesives, sealants, and coatings by following detailed recipe guides and cookbooks., • Utilize a sit-down propane forklift to gather raw materials, move finished orders, and transport goods throughout the facility., • Weigh raw ingredients accurately to ensure proper formulation and batch consistency., • Work with dry chemical materials and handle them safely in accordance with training and procedures., • Lift and manually dump 40–60 pound bags of materials into tankers and machinery on a consistent basis., • Manually grab bags and other materials and load them into mixers, tanks, and other processing equipment., • Wear and properly use a respirator and other personal protective equipment as required., • Set up machinery, hoses, tankers, and related equipment for batch mixing and production runs., • Fill pails, buckets, and other containers with finished product according to specifications., • Perform visual and basic quality inspections on filled containers and batches to ensure they meet standards., • Use vacuums and other equipment to stage and move products and raw materials safely and efficiently., • Wrap pallets, stage finished goods, and verify orders for accuracy before shipment or storage., • Sweep workstations and keep machinery and surrounding areas clean, organized, and free of debris., • Stage and gather raw materials in advance to maintain continuous production flow., • Assist with basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery and production equipment as directed., • Work closely with a lead or senior operator to receive training, learn standard operating procedures, and develop skills., • Support packaging, bottling, and line work as needed, including hand filling and batch-related packaging tasks., • Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures while working around machinery, conveyors, and other equipment., • Participate in continuous improvement efforts by maintaining orderly work areas and supporting process enhancements.Essential Skills, • At least 3 years of experience in mixing, blending, filling, or similar batch processing work., • Experience working in chemical, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic production environments., • Hands-on experience with packaging, bottling, and production line work., • Proficiency in weighing and mixing materials according to specified formulas or recipes., • Ability to perform manual loading, including consistent heavy lifting and labor-intensive tasks., • Demonstrated ability to operate a sit-down forklift, preferably propane-powered., • Capability to lift and handle 40–60 pound bags repeatedly throughout the shift., • Comfort working with dry chemicals in a controlled production environment., • Ability to wear and work with a respirator and other required personal protective equipment., • High school diploma or GED.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Background in batch mixing, batch making, or batch testing in industrial settings., • Experience with hand filling, cooking, or recipe-based production processes., • Familiarity with operating and setting up tankers, hoses, and blending equipment., • Previous exposure to working around conveyors and multiple production departments., • Comfort working in a smaller facility that is focused on continuous improvement., • Willingness to learn from senior operators and cross-train into different operator roles over time., • Ability to work 1st shift hours (approximately 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.) with a few hours of overtime and occasional, non-mandatory Saturdays., • Strong attention to detail for verifying orders, staging materials, and performing basic inspections.Why Work Here? The batch mixing area includes separate rooms with different tankers and blending equipment, and work involves handling dry chemicals in a controlled environment. Team members wear respirators as needed and must provide and wear steel-toe footwear and other appropriate attire suitable for a production and warehouse setting. The role is on 1st shift, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a few hours of overtime and occasional, non-mandatory Saturday work, providing some flexibility while maintaining steady hours. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
