The District offers exceptional fringe benefits, plus a $1,000 signing bonus DEFINITION Under general supervision, to perform responsible clerical and secretarial functions in an elementary or middle school setting; to assist with clerical detail and to perform routine administrative aid functions in cooperation with other school clerical personnel; and to do other related work as required. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES • Assists with all aspects of office operations., • Reviews and screens incoming correspondence and communications., • Requests data and communications detail for administrator’s review., • Assists with follow-up activities to ensure that operational timelines are met., • Prepares correspondence material for supervisor with appropriate background materials., • May compose correspondence concerning school operational processes requiring a thorough knowledge of policies, regulations, and operational procedures., • Assists in reviewing outgoing correspondence and other materials to ensure consistency with policies, regulations, operational procedures, formatting, grammatical construction, and punctuation., • May occasionally take notes of meetings and conferences, and prepares accurate summaries., • May administer minor first aid to students and contacts parents and emergency assistance agencies in the cases of serious illness or injury., • Responds to inquiries from either office visitors or telephone or email contacts., • Prepares input data for a computerized record management, storage, and retrieval system., • Requisitions, orders, and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and instructional materials., • Maintains a variety of records and files, which may include student, personnel, budget, expenditure, payroll, and a variety of other related records and files., • May assist in the scheduling of school facilities. Knowledge of: • Office organization and clerical practices, methods, and techniques;, • Modern office methods and equipment, including automated record management and filing systems, receptionist, and telephone techniques, correspondence and report writing;, • English usage, grammar, spelling, and punctuation;, • Interpret, and apply legal mandates, policies, rules and regulations, and operational procedures pertaining to a school operation;, • Effectively and efficiently operate computer terminals and micro-computers, and utilize appropriately application software;, • Establish and maintain comprehensive and accurate files and records, and prepare concise and complete reports as required;, • Type or keyboard at a net corrected speed of 45 words per minute;, • Make arithmetical calculations with speed and accuracy;, • Understand and carry out oral and written directions; The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions. • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 10 to 20 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects., • This type of work involves sitting, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills would be: Experience: Two years of responsible and varied secretarial and clerical experience, preferably including one year of clerical experience in an educational organization. Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, including or supplemented by coursework in shorthand, typing, data entry, office management, or other related skill areas.
