Job Description Principal – Oceanside Collegiate Academy Reports To: Pinnacle Position Purpose The Principal ensures that Oceanside Collegiate Academy thrives as a rigorous, supportive, and future-focused learning community by modeling our Mission Statement; “OCA will serve high school students in a safe, small, family centered environment, who seek the opportunity and challenge of a rigorous curriculum, high academic standards, and elite athletics while earning up to 2 years of college credit.” Position Overview The High School Principal serves as the educational leader and chief administrator of the charter high school, responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of students, faculty, and staff. This role ensures academic excellence, operational efficiency, and alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Pinnacle Charter Schools. The Principal fosters a positive school culture that promotes student achievement, staff collaboration, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities Governance and Compliance * Serve as a liaison with the OCA School Board and Pinnacle, preparing reports, presenting updates, and ensuring the Board remains fully informed. * Maintain compliance with charter school regulations, state and federal education laws, and all accreditation standards. * In partnership with Pinnacle oversee all school documents, manuals, policies, and procedures to ensure they are accurate, current, and aligned with charter and state requirements. School Operations and Finance * In partnership with Pinnacle, oversee, and manage the annual budget to ensure fiscal responsibility and sustainability. * Lead enrollment and student recruitment efforts, ensuring growth and retention goals are met. * In partnership with Pinnacle oversee building maintenance, facilities management, and capital projects to provide a safe, effective, and future-ready learning environment. Instructional Leadership * Guide and support educators, guidance counselors, and staff in building high expectations for student learning and professional growth. * In partnership with Pinnacle provide vision and leadership in curriculum development, instructional practices, and assessment strategies that prepare students for college, career, and life success. * Foster professional development opportunities and coaching for faculty and staff to strengthen instructional excellence. Culture and Community Engagement * Model the Pinnacle OCA values in all interactions with students, families, staff, and community partners. * Promote a positive school culture that emphasizes respect, responsibility, and student success on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. * Build strong partnerships with parents, local businesses, higher education institutions, and community stakeholders. Leadership and Supervision * Directly supervise the Assistant Principal, Dean of Academics, Athletic Director, ADEPT Coordinator, Guidance Counselor, and other administrative staff. * Evaluate staff performance, ensure accountability, and foster a collaborative and supportive leadership team. * Lead crisis management, discipline, and school safety efforts with consistency and fairness. * Provide supervision and support at athletic events, practices, and school functions. Qualifications * Doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) preferred; Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related field required. * Valid state principal certification or eligibility preferred. * Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience and 3 years in an administrative or leadership role. * Proven experience as a high school leader, preferably in a charter, private or innovative school environment. * Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment practices, and instructional strategies. * Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. * Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and educational technology tools. * Commitment to the mission and values of Pinnacle Charter Schools. Key Partnerships * Pinnacle Team - President, CFO, Director of Academics, Director Development, HR Director, Director of Communication and Marketing and Board Liaison * OCA School Board – governance, reporting, compliance. * Executive Team - Athletic Director, Assistant Principal, Assistant Athletic Director * Administrative Team - Administrative Assistant, Financial Secretary, Data Specialist, SPED * Administrative Core – Assistant Principal, Dean of Academics, Athletic Director, ADEPT Coordinator, IT * Student Services – Guidance Counselor, SPED, Data Specialist, Student Concern Specialist. * Dual Enrollment Team – Director and staff, in partnership with TTC. * Parents and Community Partners – to support student success and strengthen OCA’s presence in the community. Core Responsibilities * Provide strong instructional leadership to ensure high levels of teaching and learning. * Support and implement curriculum and instructional programs aligned with state standards and Pinnacle charter goals. * Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, staffing, student discipline, and safety procedures. * Recruit, mentor, evaluate, and support faculty and staff to foster professional growth and excellence. * In partnership with Pinnacle analyze student performance data to guide instructional decision-making and school improvement plans. * Collaborate with Pinnacle leadership, parents, and community partners to enhance educational outcomes. * Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and charter regulations, including reporting and accountability requirements. * Manage the school budget and resources efficiently to support academic and extracurricular programs. * Promote a culture of respect, inclusion, and equity among students, staff, and the broader school community.
