Job DescriptionJob Title: Material Handler SupervisorJob Description This role oversees daily shipping, receiving, packing, and material handling operations while also performing hands-on tasks as needed. The position focuses on coordinating parcel and freight shipments through FedEx and UPS, managing international shipments, and ensuring accurate data entry into systems such as SAP. You will lead a small team in a fast-paced environment, maintaining efficiency, accuracy, and safety across all warehouse activities. Responsibilities • Oversee the daily work of shippers, receivers, packers, and material handlers to ensure smooth and efficient operations., • Perform shipping, receiving, packing, and material handling tasks directly when needed to support workflow and meet deadlines., • Coordinate domestic and international shipments using FedEx and UPS systems, ensuring accurate labeling, documentation, and routing., • Prepare, verify, and process purchase orders (POs) and shipping documentation, maintaining accurate records in SAP and other systems., • Manage pallet preparation, including palletizing, wrapping, labeling, and staging materials for shipment., • Operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment safely to move, load, and unload materials., • Ensure accurate receiving of incoming goods by verifying quantities, part numbers, and documentation, and updating system records., • Monitor and maintain inventory accuracy through proper data entry, tracking, and handling of materials., • Train, guide, and support team members in shipping, receiving, and material handling processes and system usage., • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to resolve shipping, receiving, and inventory discrepancies in a timely manner., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, following all facility and safety procedures., • Support continuous improvement of shipping and receiving processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Essential Skills, • At least 2 years of hands-on FedEx shipping experience., • At least 2 years of hands-on UPS shipping experience., • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a supervisor in a shipping, receiving, or material handling environment., • Minimum of 6 months of international shipping experience., • Proficiency using a computer for data entry, documentation, and system navigation., • Proficiency with FedEx and UPS shipping software for domestic and international shipments., • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems for shipping, receiving, and inventory transactions., • Ability to perform accurate data entry and maintain detailed shipping and receiving records., • Experience with pallet preparation, including palletizing, wrapping, and labeling., • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift and other material handling equipment safely., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment., • Ability to oversee and coordinate the work of multiple team members.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience as a receiver in a warehouse or manufacturing environment., • Experience working with purchase orders (POs) and related documentation., • Familiarity with general shipping and receiving best practices for both domestic and international logistics., • Comfort working in a structured, process-driven environment within a larger industrial facility., • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members and internal stakeholders., • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support hands-on work when required.Why Work Here? The position is on second shift, Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., providing consistent evening hours. You will work in a warehouse and shipping/receiving setting that uses technologies such as SAP, FedEx and UPS shipping software, and other computer-based systems for data entry and documentation. The environment involves regular use of sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment, as well as frequent palletizing, loading, and unloading of materials. You can expect a structured, process-oriented workplace that emphasizes safety, organization, and adherence to facility procedures. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of East Hartford, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.41 - $23.41/hr.
