Codaray Construction is in pursuit of a seasoned Senior Estimator to lead our bidding processes and contribute to our legacy of building excellence. In this pivotal role, you will guide our estimation team, leveraging your deep industry knowledge to drive bid strategies, foster vendor partnerships, and ensure a smooth handover of successful bids to project management. This position can be in the Ridgeland, MS or Hattiesburg, MS office. Duties/Responsibilities: • Ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents, • Ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect requirements, • Thorough knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices, • Manage bidding process for assigned projects, • Attend pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs, • Develop and execute bidding strategies, • Review construction documents, communicate and coordinate work scopes during the bidding process, • Coordinate and communicate with owners and design team on progress, • Develop and foster ongoing partnerships with vendors, • Generate interest and solicit bids from vendors, • Evaluate and oversee bidding of projects, • Manage and coordinate bid team personnel, • Maintain estimating data bases (material pricing & subcontractors), • Train and develop Assistant Estimators, • Complete material and labor take-offs, • Create cost analysis, • Compose bid tabulation, • Orchestrate smooth transition of awarded projects to project management, • Demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, • Demonstrate imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project, • Always represent Codaray in a professional manner, • Participate in Company-sponsored events, Task Team Committees, and professional/industry/community organizations, • Teaches and/or trains employees, • Participates in college recruiting and activities and general recruiting, • Participates in Company presentations values, • Timeliness of meeting deadlines (internal and external), • Performs other related duties as assigned Required Skills/Abilities: • Ability to multitask and meet established deadlines, • Excellent attention to detail with excellent verbal and written communication skills, • Thorough knowledge of the estimating documents, • Ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of documents, • Ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the owner/architect requirements, • Thorough knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices, • Demonstrate outstanding leadership skills, • Demonstrate imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project, • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of programs and current estimating software, • Thorough understanding of the operating procedures and methods of other departments – Purchasing, Cost, Accounting, etc., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, • Develops, trains and mentors all levels of Project Managers and Superintendents to assume ownership in the delivery process with a business mentality, • Encourages, participates in and supports training programs and personal development of self, • Administers the year-round performance appraisal process (development, assessment, compensation, promotion, discipline, termination) for direct report personnel, • Develops and participates actively in “Best Practices”, • Keeps abreast of current technical developments, • Advises Director of Preconstruction of all quality potential new hires, • Delivers positive methodology in own work, • Reinforces employee successes, • Communicates with employees using passion, Timeliness of meeting deadlines (internal and external) Required Skills/Abilities: • Strong knowledge of management practices and organization skills, • Ability to read and understand construction documents, purchase orders, contracts, and cost coding systems, • Strong math skills, • Advanced computer skills with experience in MS Office, ProEst, and Procore preferred Education and Experience: • Four (4) year construction management/technology degree or equivalent, plus 10 years’ experience in construction estimating; or equivalent combination of education and experience., • Minimum ten (10) years of experience in hard bid, design build, and negotiated commercial construction estimating Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on computer, • Driving to meeting and sites, • Visiting sites for pre-bids and evaluations (climbing stairs, ladders, etc.), • 20/20 vision (with or without correction); climbing; talking; hearing (with or without aid); and typing/computer entry. Driver License Required: • Current valid driver’s license. Favorable driving record required for company vehicle or auto allowance.
