Job Description Now Hiring: Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper Location: Ashland, OR | Department: Finance | Union: IATSE | Status: Full-Time, Exempt The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our Finance team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on accuracy, organization, and problem-solving, and who wants to contribute their financial expertise to a mission-driven nonprofit arts organization. You’ll be responsible for maintaining GAAP-compliant records, supporting audits, reconciling accounts, preparing reports, and assisting with both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable. You will also manage OSF’s credit card program, ensuring timely reconciliation, accuracy, and compliance with financial policies. What You’ll Do • Manage recurring journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly/annual close processes., • Accounts Payable for assigned vendors, • Manage OSF’s credit card program, including reconciliations, monitoring transactions, and ensuring compliance with policies., • Participate in internal and external financial audits., • Ensure compliance with GAAP and maintain accurate financial documentation., • Analyze and resolve discrepancies between accounting systems and reports., • Track active accounts, project codes, and grants in Financial Edge., • Backup AP and AR as necessary, • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business (or equivalent experience; 3+ years accounting-specific experience may substitute)., • Have experience preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and creating financial statements., • Are proficient with accounting software and highly skilled in Excel., • Understand GAAP standards and nonprofit accounting practices., • Are self-motivated, organized, and committed to accuracy and efficiency., • Nonprofit accounting experience., • Standard office-based role, working at a computer for extended periods., • Occasionally lift boxes up to 40 lbs.
