ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES: The Online Enrollment Counselor encourages prospective students by progressing them from inquiry to enrolled status and providing them with all of the information necessary for successful entry into the College’s programs. Additionally, this position plans and performs enrollment activities to maximize enrollment goals, as well as representing the College in all internal and external functional enrollment, advising, and sales activities. This position is visible to the entire College community and to the public at all levels and routinely interacts with all constituent groups of the College as well as prospective clients and students. The Online Enrollment Counselor reports to the Director of Online Enrollment at Lackawanna College (“Director”). Some aspects of this position may be able to be done remotely, but the position requires regular in-person attendance and the ability to occasionally travel to other locations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Promptly responds to all new inquiries and maintains consistent communication with all leads throughout the enrollment process., • Advise prospective students about the enrollment process. Supports and guides them with identifying educational goals, developing educational plans, receiving credit for prior learning (to include work experience and other forms of non-traditional learning), evaluating transfer credits and transcripts, and providing information and updates on financial aid, scholarships, and tuition assistance., • Ensures students are made “current” by completing all enrollment requirements and follows up with students in the first two week of classes to ensure participation and referrals to resources as needed., • Provides superior customer service to students through the entire enrollment process., • Stays up to date on programs of study and services provided to all students to best prepare them for enrollment, • Regularly attends and participates in off campus recruiting functions and events., • Collaborates with various College departments and encourages teamwork among all staff members., • Participates in planning and conducting on-campus and virtual information sessions, webinars, and open houses while promoting the College’s programs., • Assists new students with additional questions about advising, financial aid, billing, and other student services such as tutoring, career advising, counseling, and library services., • Represents the Enrollment team on various committees throughout the College and contributes to the respective committees’ overall goals and objectives., • Supports the College through participation in external and internal events., • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. KEY COMPETENCIES: • Recruitment and sales skills combined with a strong work ethic and a goal-oriented and self-motivated approach toward achieving consistent results., • Proficient technical skills and demonstrated expertise working with various appropriate software., • Ability to prioritize responsibilities., • Up-to-date knowledge of regional workforce trends and industry needs., • Experience or aptitude working with a diverse community including non-traditional adult learners preferred., • Demonstrated ability to:, • Coach and guide students and/or alumni at varying career levels., • Present workshop content and facilitate large meetings in person or virtually., • Listen carefully, to interpret accurately, and to respond appropriately to a high volume of requests., • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with all aspects of the job duties., • Support the College's Mission, particularly in administering the responsibilities of the department., • Excellent time management and organizational skills., • Excellent written and spoken communication skills., • Excellent interpersonal skills., • Proven initiative and resourcefulness, • Problem-solving skills and professionalism., • Ability to work flexible hours based on the needs of the College. Evenings and weekends may be required in support of events and activities. EDUCATION: • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. EXPERIENCE: • Minimum of two (2) years’ relevant experience within higher education., • Experience working with diverse populations and/or adult learners. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Position will require the ability to frequently reach, stand, walk, bend, twist, grasp, sit, talk, hear, see, climb and perform repetitive motions., • Position will require the ability to lift and carry items up to 20 pounds, and push/pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
