The Vice President of Business Development is responsible for developing and executing Guerdon's overall business development and revenue growth strategy. As a member of the executive leadership team, this role provides strategic direction for market expansion, customer acquisition, key account management, and long-term business growth initiatives across the Western United States and Canada. The Vice President leads the Business Development organization while establishing executive-level relationships with developers, owners, general contractors, architects, investors, and strategic partners. This individual is responsible for driving sales performance, expanding Guerdon's market presence, identifying emerging opportunities, and aligning commercial strategies with the company's operational capabilities and long-term strategic objectives. Working closely with the CEO and executive leadership team, the Vice President develops sales strategies that position Guerdon as the industry leader in modular multifamily, hospitality, workforce housing, and commercial construction. • Develop and execute the company's short and long-term business development strategy to meet or exceed company budgeted sales requirements for each fiscal year., • Serve as a member of the executive leadership team, contributing to strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and organizational growth initiatives., • Establish annual revenue goals, market expansion strategies, and key performance indicators for the Business Development organization., • Lead and mentor Business Development Managers and dotted-line staff while creating a high-performance sales culture., • Evaluate organizational capabilities and recommend investments needed to support immediate sales backlog and budgeted future growth., • Identify and pursue high-value development opportunities throughout targeted geographic markets., • Develop strategies to increase Guerdon's market share within multifamily, hospitality, workforce housing, student housing, assisted living, affordable housing, and commercial sectors., • Build long-term executive relationships with national and regional developers, ownership groups, institutional investors, general contractors, architects, engineering firms, and public agencies., • Identify emerging markets and new product opportunities to diversify revenue streams., • Lead pursuit strategies for large, complex, and strategic projects., • Lead Guerdon team for participation in request for pricing proposals., • Provide leadership and oversight for the entire sales pipeline from market development through contract execution., • Establish sales processes, forecasting methodologies, CRM standards, and performance metrics., • Monitor pipeline health, backlog, revenue forecasts, and market trends., • Ensure appropriate allocation of Business Development resources across target markets., • Review major proposals, pricing strategies, contract terms, and commercial negotiations., • Participate directly in executive-level negotiations for strategic opportunities., • Serve as Guerdon's executive representative with key clients and strategic partners., • Develop long-term relationships that generate repeat business and national account opportunities., • Lead executive client meetings, plant tours, industry presentations, and customer engagement initiatives., • Represent Guerdon at major industry conferences, trade associations, and networking events., • Position Guerdon as a recognized thought leader within the modular construction industry., • Responsible for oversight of Marketing Department and individual deliverables., • Analyze market trends, economic conditions, competitive activity, and customer demand to identify strategic opportunities., • Provide executive leadership with regular updates regarding market conditions, risks, opportunities, and competitive intelligence., • Recommend new products, service offerings, strategic partnerships, and market expansion initiatives., • Collaborate with Marketing to strengthen Guerdon's brand awareness and market presence., • Partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Estimating, Design, Manufacturing, Finance, and Project Management to ensure business commitments align with fiscal budget production requirements and operational objectives., • Ensure successful transition of projects from Business Development through Pre-Construction and into Project Management and Manufacturing Operations., • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen customer experience and organizational efficiency., • Develop annual sales forecasts, revenue projections, and business development budgets., • Analyze profitability, pricing strategies, project mix, and return on investment., • Support long-term corporate financial planning through accurate forecasting and market analysis., • Recruit, develop, coach, and retain high-performing Business Development professionals., • Conduct performance evaluations and establish professional development plans., • Foster accountability through measurable performance objectives., • Build a collaborative, customer-focused culture centered on professionalism, integrity, and continuous improvement., • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field required., • Master's degree or MBA preferred., • 12+ years of progressive Business Development leadership experience., • Minimum 7 years leading high-performing sales or business development teams., • Extensive experience within commercial construction, modular construction, multifamily development, or related industries., • Proven success leading complex, long-cycle capital project sales exceeding multi-million-dollar contract values., • Demonstrated experience working directly with executive leadership, ownership groups, developers, investors, and national accounts., • Strong understanding of construction delivery methods, project development, estimating, contracting, and preconstruction., • Experience developing strategic growth initiatives and managing organizational sales performance., • Advanced financial and business acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and business planning., • Executive leadership presence with exceptional communication and negotiation skills., • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and build trusted relationships., • Strategic thinker capable of translating market intelligence into business growth., • Strong financial and commercial acumen., • Excellent presentation and public speaking abilities., • Ability to lead organizational change and inspire high-performing teams., • Exceptional analytical and decision-making skills., • Strong understanding of CRM systems, sales analytics, and performance metrics., • High integrity with demonstrated ethical leadership., • Ability to travel extensively (approximately 40–60%) to support client development, project pursuits, and industry engagement., • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, see, and use hands and fingers
