Our client is a well-established specialist contractor delivering high-performance projects across major commercial, residential, and industrial projects. With a strong pipeline of secured work and continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join their commercial team. This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to be involved across both pre-construction and delivery phases, supporting projects from initial tender through to final account. The Role As a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in managing both the estimating and commercial aspects of projects. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate tender submissions, robust cost control, and strong commercial performance across a diverse range of schemes. Key Responsibilities Lead the commercial and pre-construction activities across specialist acoustic projects within large-scale construction environments Manage the full tendering process, including pricing, bid strategy, and detailed risk appraisal for projects typically ranging from £10k to £6m Review and negotiate contract terms, with a strong focus on JCT contracts, amendments, and risk allocation Analyse detailed tender documentation including drawings, specifications, acoustic reports, and floor build-ups to identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities Produce accurate and commercially robust cost plans and tender submissions within required deadlines Support and contribute to the estimating function, ensuring consistency and quality across all bids Develop and maintain internal cost databases for labour, materials, and subcontract packages to ensure accurate forecasting and margin protection Deliver clear and structured commercial handovers to operational teams, outlining key assumptions, risks, and programme considerations Prepare and manage valuations, applications for payment, and cash flow in line with contractual requirements Identify, price, and negotiate variations, ensuring full commercial recovery Manage and agree final accounts with client-side Quantity Surveyors Source and appoint subcontractors and labour, including negotiating competitive rates Provide ongoing commercial support throughout project delivery, working closely with operational teams to manage cost, risk, and client relationships About You Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor, Estimator, or combined role within construction or specialist subcontracting Experience working on commercial projects, ideally within interiors, fit-out, M&E, or acoustic solutions Strong understanding of construction contracts, particularly JCT Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications with a high level of accuracy Strong negotiation and communication skills Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines What Our Client Offers Competitive salary and package, dependent on experience Opportunity to join a growing specialist contractor with a strong market reputation Exposure to technically interesting and high-profile projects Supportive and collaborative working environment Clear opportunities for career progression and development If you are a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor / Estimator looking to take the next step in your career within a specialist and growing sector, our client would be keen to hear from you.
