Your new company \nOperating both in the UK and across the world, they are a leading contractor delivering projects across multiple sectors including; real estate, defence, education, highways, rail and water.\n\nYour new role Working on a major highways improvement scheme in the Norfolk region, the project team is seeking an experienced Sub Agent with a strong background in infrastructure works involving structures. The successful candidate will support the Site Agent in the effective and professional supervision of site activities, including the management of subcontract packages, ensuring all works are delivered in line with company procedures, programme requirements, and project specifications.\n\nKey Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):\n\nProduce a detailed 3‑month lookahead for your section of works, supported by shorter-term 2‑ and 4‑week lookaheads.\nRecord and monitor progress against planned production, communicating updates clearly to relevant stakeholders.\nDevelop construction plans for your section, considering sequencing, constraints, and interfaces, and ensure these are communicated effectively.\nManage, supervise, train, and mentor the site team to ensure they perform their duties safely and efficiently.\nMaintain strong communication with engineers, supervisors, enabling functions, designers, and client representatives.\nCoordinate with supply chain partners to support design development and ensure constructability, aiming for right‑first‑time solutions with no in‑flight change.\nRaise construction issues promptly and escalate appropriately to achieve timely resolution.\nInterpret and challenge design specifications and drawings for your section, particularly relating to structural components.\nGenerate high‑quality temporary works design briefs suitable for approval by the Temporary Works Coordinator.\nApply technical expertise to structural works, including foundations, retaining structures, bridges, culverts, or other key infrastructure elements as required by the scheme.\n\nWhat you'll need to succeed \n\nExperience in delivering major highways schemes, specifically structures.\nSMSTS\nCSCS Card\nLifting Appointed Person (AP) and Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) tickets preferred but not essential.\n\nWhat you need to do now \n\nIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.\nIf this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.\n\nHays EA is a trading division of Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
