Job Description Director of High School Program Department Programming Job Status Full-Time Reports To Chief Program Officer Job Type Regular Positions Supervised Program Managers FLSA Status Exempt Amount of Travel 50% local travel Work Schedule M-F 9:00 – 5:00 or 10 -6:00, flexibility; Occasional evenings and weekends POSITION SUMMARY The Director of High School Programs, under the guidance of the Chief Program Officer (CPO), the Director of High School Programs is responsible for the strategic planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of all high school programs. This role ensures that programs align with the organization’s mission, support academic and personal growth, and prepare for post-secondary success. The Director provides leadership and supervision to program staff, builds strong partnerships with schools and community stakeholders, and ensures high-quality programming that meets the needs of high school scholars. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Program Management, • The Director of High School Program is responsible for the management and administration of both the High School and High School Plus programs., • Leads, plans, and coordinates the high school summer opportunities, incorporating internships and job opportunities., • Creates a comprehensive, engaging curriculum for the high school program., • Organizes and coordinate college visits and service trips in collaboration with relevant stakeholders., • Responsible for the attainment of all program goals, including but not limited to, recruitment, academic, social-emotional learning, family, compliance, and data collection., • Ensures that high school programming provides scholars with at least four years of mentorship following their graduation., • Ensures programs are operating at capacity., • Ensures consistent implementation of afterschool programming across sites., • Ensures effective design and implementation of new and existing programs., • Oversees the High School Program programming budget., • Maintains annual programming calendar including dates of operation, family events, district-specific events, service-learning trips, field trips, and coordinates transportation with the Operations Manager., • Co-leads weekly Programming Leadership Team meetings., • Provides oversight of scholars and families onboarding process., • Along with the CPO, establishes and maintains data collection methods to track the progress of each scholar., • Implements program assessments according to the assessment calendar., • Ensures program data is effectively gathered and stored., • Staff Management, • Manages, motivates, and guides team members to meet departmental and organizational objectives, promoting a positive work culture., • Regularly evaluates staff performance, offering constructive feedback and encouraging professional growth., • Plans and coordinates professional development opportunities for high school program staff., • Collaborates with the CPO to effectively onboard the programming team., • Collaborates with the CPO and COO to develop program and team members’ goals and professional development plans., • Conducts weekly one-on-one meetings with direct reports., • Conducts quarterly performance conversations with direct reports., • Provides ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to direct reports., • Identifies training needs among staff and works with the team to deliver training to enhance programming., • Attends budget review meetings with direct reports and CFO., • Program Quality and Assessment, • Implements program assessments according to the assessment calendar., • Collaborates with the CPO and Data Manager to implement evaluation instruments., • Conducts quarterly campus observations to ensure high-quality programming., • Collaborates with the CPO to implement the program-level assessment: Youth Program Quality Assessment biannually., • Implements logic models., • Partnerships, • Builds and coordinates partnerships with key stakeholders to enhance the program curriculum, including career and college readiness initiatives., • Develops strong relationships with schools and community partners to support program goals., • Builds a collaborative relationship with all school personnel., • Builds strong partnerships with schools and community partners., • Ensures effective and consistent communication between families, school leadership, and community partners., • Leads communication efforts with high school students' families, fostering strong engagement and ensuring active participation in student activities and events., • Collaborates with the Director of Family Engagement to provide vision and structured family programming that is responsive to families’ needs., • Collaborates with the CPO on the design and implementation of scholar trips., • Collaborates with the CPO to ensure effective and timely client communications., • Collaborates across departments including finance, advancement, and marketing and communication.
