Job Description Manager of Legal Support – Chicago, IL Are you a seasoned legal operations professional with a passion for team leadership and administrative excellence? A mid-sized law firm in Illinois is seeking a Manager of Legal Support to lead and develop a dynamic team of legal secretaries, a receptionist, records clerk, and administrative clerks. About the Role As the Manager of Legal Support, you will oversee daily operations, optimize workflows, and foster a collaborative and inclusive culture. You’ll play a key role in recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management while ensuring top-tier support for legal professionals and clients. Key Responsibilities * Manage secretarial workflow, redistribute workloads, and coordinate coverage during absences. * Lead monthly team meetings and facilitate small group sessions to enhance collaboration. * Partner with talent development and IT teams to recruit, onboard, and train support staff. * Implement technology and procedures to improve efficiency and skill development. * Facilitate performance reviews, feedback sessions, and progressive discipline processes. * Act as liaison between attorneys and support staff to resolve conflicts and ensure alignment. * Maintain compliance with firm policies and employment laws. Qualifications * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience. * Minimum 7 years in a legal industry management. * Proven experience managing teams of 10+ employees. * Strong background in employee relations and conflict resolution. * Legal secretary experience preferred but not required. * Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PDF tools. * Familiarity with document management systems and online recruiting platforms. * Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills. Compensation & Benefits * Salary: $110,000 – $120,000 annually, plus performance-based bonus. * Benefits: Benefits package including health, dental, vision, and 401(k). * Hybrid work environment based on job demands. * Supportive team culture and modern office space.
