We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to deliver high-impact technical leadership, client advocacy, and strategic claims outcomes across complex casualty, property, motor and specialty claims. This is a senior specialist role offering significant influence over claims direction and strong opportunities for developing teams across both offices.Key AccountabilitiesTechnical Claims Leadership • Lead handling of high-value, complex claims, providing technical direction and oversight, • Interpret policy coverage, liability, and quantum with precision to drive optimal claim outcomes, • Establish and implement claims strategies, including litigation management where required, • Act as escalation point for technically challenging or contentious claimsClient Advisory & Relationship Management, • Serve as a trusted advisor to key clients, providing proactive and strategic claims guidance, • Attend client sites and critical incidents, supporting from day one of a claim event, • Support client presentations, renewals, and tenders through demonstrating claims value, • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and market stakeholdersNegotiation & Market Engagement, • Lead complex negotiations with insurers, loss adjusters, and legal representatives, • Proactively drive early coverage agreement and efficient settlement strategies, • Leverage market relationships to improve outcomes on difficult or sensitive claims, • Challenge insurer and supplier performance where requiredClaims Performance & Insight, • Analyse claims data to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities, • Provide meaningful, insight-led management information to clients and internal stakeholders, • Contribute to development of claims propositions and service enhancements, • Support embedding of data-driven decision making within the Claims teamLeadership, Coaching & Capability Development, • Act as a mentor and technical coach to colleagues across the Claims function, • Raise overall team capability through knowledge sharing and case reviews, • Contribute to technical frameworks, standards, and best practices, • Support succession planning and talent development within the teamOperational Excellence & Governance, • Ensure claims are managed in line with agreed service standards, SLAs, and KPIs, • Maintain strong compliance with FCA requirements, internal policies, and Consumer Duty principles, • Ensure accurate and timely use of systems (including Acturis) and data recording, • Maintain strong control of costs, leakage, and supplier performanceCollaboration & Business Contribution, • Work cross-functionally with broking, risk, and other departments to deliver integrated client solutions, • Contribute to business strategy, client retention initiatives, and growth opportunities, • Represent Claims in internal committees, projects, and strategic initiativesPerson Specification, • Strong technical understanding of policy wordings and legal frameworks, • Excellent negotiation and dispute resolution skills, • Ability to translate claims data into commercial insight and client value, • Strong stakeholder management and communication capabilities, • Systems proficiency (Acturis and Microsoft Office), • Commercially aware and outcome-focused, • Credible, confident, and trusted by clients and the market, • Proactive, resilient, and solutions-oriented, • Collaborative leader with a passion for developing others, • Aligned to Verlingue's culture and values, • Considerable experience in complex claims handling within insurance broking or related environment, • Proven track record of managing high-value claims and delivering strong client outcomes, • Experience in a senior or leadership role within a claims team – desirable, • Relevant CII qualification (Diploma or equivalent) – desirableREF-229 272
