The Area Supervisor is a member of Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store as well as general operations and supervision when serving as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes. • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything., • Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment., • Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups, and register area., • Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits., • Ensure customer safety, preventing accidents, reporting incidents, and following emergency procedures., • Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to after‑hours alarms when requested., • Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect., • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times, and recognize associates using company recognition programs., • Represent and support the company brand at all times., • Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code and ensure all associates adhere to it., • Keep all store areas clean, well‑maintained, and merchandised to standard., • Responsible for daily trash removal., • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up., • Handle receiving merchandise trucks when needed., • Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency., • Receive all non‑merchandise inbound deliveries (signs, supplies, special deliveries)., • Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms., • Help deliver and place merchandise on the sales floor when processed., • Secure and process back‑stock per company policy., • Merchandise the department, including back stock., • Reduce loss due to damage., • Ensure compliance with monthly presentation guidelines in the assigned area., • Handle floor moves and signage, including promotional signing as needed., • Perform re‑wraps as necessary., • Understand and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program., • Maintain a strong customer service presence on the sales floor and engage actively in loss prevention., • Safeguard confidential information, cash, and credit card information and merchandise., • Maintain the Public View Monitor system properly., • Conduct “Code 50” package inspections., • Execute all company best practices to maximize productivity by minimizing steps and touches., • Ensure associates execute to company standards at front end., • Maintain pace, energy, and presence at front end, managing the line to expedite customer wait times., • Train and coach associates on cash registers, shortage control policies, and other front end procedures., • Control retail associates’ break schedule for backups, lunches, and breaks., • Ensure all equipment is functioning properly., • Maintain proper supplies and recovery for the front end area., • Ensure go‑backs are expedited, properly scanned, security tagged, and ticketed., • Teach all associates the “Scan and Bag” best practice., • Ensure salability of merchandise on the front end, aisle tables, men’s/women’s 4‑way features, and specialty racks., • Maintain and clean fitting rooms., • Ensure all fitting room garment tags are audited and accounted for per company policy., • Ensure go‑back compliance throughout the day; all returned merchandise must be ticketed, scanned, nubbed, and security tagged as needed., • Ensure cash pulls and bank deposits are conducted per company policy., • Control front end when needed, adhering to policies for refunds, associate purchase approvals, securing tills, and register procedures., • Administer payroll—daily punch edits, associate scheduling compliance, Sunday payroll transmission, and payroll reporting as needed., • Perform other duties as assigned by Store Manager., • Manages Work Processes, • Business Acumen, • Plans, Aligns & Prioritizes, • Builds Talent, • Collaborates, • Leads by Example, • Communicates Effectively, • Ensures Accountability & Execution, • Excellent verbal communication skills., • Fluency in English., • Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred., • Familiarity with point‑of‑sale equipment and applications., • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments., • Ability to work evenings and weekends., • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required., • Stand, walk, and move around the store for 100 % of working time., • Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop., • Occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 lbs., • Retail Associates Ross is an equal employment opportunity employer. Base pay range: $19.15–$19.65 per hour, dependent on experience, skills, and location. Total compensation also includes other rewards.
