Job Description Role Summary Own the full lifecycle of concrete, asphalt paving, and pavement maintenance projects across commercial, municipal, industrial, and residential work — from lead qualification, estimating, and proposals through planning, field execution, change orders, billing, and closeout. Perform accurate takeoffs and estimates; build budgets and schedules; coordinate crews, equipment, materials, trucking, and subcontractors; drive production, quality, safety, customer satisfaction, and profit targets. Requirements • Valid driver's license., • Ability and willingness to obtain a DOT medical card., • Ability to pass a drug test., • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, details, and addenda., • Ability to plan ahead for upcoming projects and bids; strong time-management., • Ability to orchestrate crews and coordinate labor/equipment efficiently., • Ability to track and document work, bids, budgets, and progress., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Computer literacy; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Strong mathematics and analytical skills., • Estimating Experience in the construction fields, • Ability to learn and use construction estimating, takeoff, and timekeeping software., • Understanding of construction practices (sitework, concrete, asphalt, maintenance)., • Professional attitude, confidentiality, reliability, and attention to detail., • Customer relations and conflict-resolution ability., • Qualify incoming leads and RFQs; plan estimating schedule around priority and workload., • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete (flatwork, curbs, footers, ADA ramps, walls), asphalt paving (patching, base/binder/wear, overlays), milling, crack sealing, sealcoating, pavement marking and excavation/grading/drainage tie-ins., • Build complete estimates: labor, equipment, trucking, materials, vendors, subcontractors using company production rates and industry norms., • Determine crew sizes, equipment lineup, and logical path to completion., • Identify constraints (access, utilities, traffic control, phasing, weather/seasonality)., • Verify budgets cover labor burden, equipment costs, and overhead; Quality Control (QC) team bid reviews; maintain templates and historical cost data., • Manage multiple projects simultaneously; track budgets, schedule, and production., • Delegate tasks to foremen; mentor field leadership and team members., • Set project schedules/phasing; coordinate equipment, materials, trucking, and subcontractors., • Mobilize efficiently to minimize idle time and haul cost; maintain QC for client acceptance., • Facilitate field → office information flow: daily logs, quantities, crew hours, photos, notes., • Document unusual events (equipment failure, weather, conflicts) and mitigation., • Initiate RFIs and change orders promptly; expedite approvals and update budgets/schedules., • Finalize project values for accurate billing and revenue recognition., • Professional communication with office, field, clients, and inspectors to drive proactive solutions., • Plan paving temperature windows; coordinate paver, screed, and breakdown–intermediate–finish rolling patterns., • Manage trucking flow, haul routes, and tonnage pacing; coordinate traffic control needs., • Oversee milling operations (depth, slope, speed, trucking) and broom/sweeping., • Participate in employee reviews; track performance and attendance; coach for growth., • Assist HR/leadership with hiring and interviews as needed., • 0–2 Years (Assistant Hybrid): Learning takeoffs, small COs, documentation., • 2–4 Years (Competent Hybrid): Manages small/medium jobs; accurate takeoffs; solid documentation; client coordination., • 4–7 Years (Independent Hybrid): Multiple complex jobs; strong paving/concrete scheduling; budget control; CO pricing and negotiations., • Competitive pay based on experience., • Health Insurance: 65% employer paid., • 401(k) Safe Harbor Plan with 4% match., • Paid training., • DOT physical reimbursed after 60 days., • Holiday pay is included as part of your compensation package., • Holiday hours are excluded from overtime and fringe benefit calculations., • Paid major holidays (must work the scheduled day before and after unless excused)., • PTO and Holiday Pay begin only after successful completion of the 90‐day probationary period., • PTO accrues based on straight hours worked (not paid hours)., • Annual PTO maximums and accrual rates (based on 1,560 work hours/year):, • Year 1: Up to 5 days (40 hrs), • Year 2: Up to 8 days (64 hrs), • Year 3: Up to 10 days (80 hrs), • Year 5+: Up to 15 days (120 hrs) Company DescriptionMaker Construction Corp provides reliable, high‐quality excavation, concrete work, asphalt paving, and pavement maintenance—fully self‐performed by our experienced team.
