The People & Culture Operations Coordinator Intern will assist the People & Culture (HR) team in developing, coordinating, and executing high-impact initiatives, strategies, and events. Our ENVISION internship program is 10-weeks of programming where you will receive full-time, On-the-Job training & education (OTJTE) that will prepare you to be real-world professionals. This internship provides an excellent opportunity to learn essential in HR operations and organizational design. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented People & Culture Operations Coordinator Intern to join the HR team in our Washington, DC office for Summer of 2026. The internship requires the available to work up to 40 hours per week, at minimum 32 hours per week during the summer with 5 hours per week devoted to professional development with opportunities for shadowing, mentoring, and training with successful professionals. The internship will commence on Wednesday, June 3rd, 2026 and runs until Friday, August 7th, 2026. This position will report to the HR Business Partner. This is a hybrid role requiring you to come into the DC office at least 2 days per week. WHAT YOU WILL GAIN | POSITION OVERVIEW The Executive Leadership Council is seeking a proactive, detail & solution-oriented People & Culture Operations Coordinator Intern to support key initiatives that streamline operational workflows, improve HR project visibility, and strengthen data-driven decision making. This role offers hands-on experience in project & HR management best practices, planning, reporting improvement, cross functional collaboration, and executive-level reporting. This role is well-suited for emerging HR professionals seeking practical & leadership experience at the intersection of HR operations and organizational effectiveness within a purpose-driven organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and mission-aligned, with strong communication skills and a desire to understand how operational excellence and people strategy drive organizational performance. You will work closely with HR professionals on enterprise-wide HR projects, strategies, and initiatives related to talent acquisition, employee engagement, learning and development, and HR operations. You will support various talent-related initiatives that drive the ELC's employee experience and organizational success, by harnessing data-driven insights to inform and enhance our People strategies across the organization. As a part of the People & Culture team, you will work closely with business leaders to support the delivery of reliable data-centered solutions that support a variety of needs across the organization. You will focus on identifying trends, translating complex data, and providing actionable recommendations through clear & concise insights and visualizations. The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, a proactive mindset, and an interest in HR & Business Operations, Organizational Development & Design, and Project Management. WHAT YOU WILL DO | ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & KEY OUTCOMES Our interns are encouraged to bring fresh ideas to the table and are quickly entrusted with foundational responsibilities: Human Resources Administration & CoordinationAssist with the preparation and processing of People & Culture documents, such as employment contracts, onboarding materials, and termination paperworkConsult with the People & Culture team on maintaining and updating employee records in our HRIS system, ensuring accuracy and confidentialityMaintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and data, ensuring compliance with company policies and proceduresSupport the People & Culture team in streamlining administrative processes to enhance efficiencyHelp coordinate the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and offboardingAssist in the development and implementation of People & Culture policies and proceduresProvide general administrative support to the People & Culture department, including scheduling meetings, management of physical and digital filing/record keeping, and responding to employee inquiriesSupport People & Culture professionals in various tasks and projects related to recruitment, knowledge management, employee relations, and talent management.Develop content for monthly newsletterYou will liaise with clients and stakeholders and provide updates to management. You will learn to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gain a comprehensive understanding of People & Culture processes and contribute ideas for improvement.Stay informed on current HR trends and best practices, and share knowledge with the teamTake on ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learnAssist with modernizing the internal training management site Learning & Development AdministrationAssist with modernizing the internal training management site and the administration of the LMS such as SharePoint, Paylocity, etc.Assist in assessing training needs through surveys, interviews, or consultation with managers to identify skill gaps.Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of existing or new training programs, including new hire orientation, workshops, seminars, and e-learning courses that are aligned with our company values.Develop requirements for new curriculum modules based on development needs Organizational Culture & WellbeingIn partnership with the HR Business Partner and HR Director to shape & drive the people agenda and lead team culture initiatives. Project Management, Coordination & SupportAssist the department head and project managers in organizing and coordinating various events and programs.Collaborate with the team to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets. Track project progress, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies. Maintain project documentation, including meeting minutes, action items, and status reports.Support the coordination of various programs aimed at engaging professionalsAssist in developing program schedules, coordinating activities, and securing necessary resources.Communicate with program participants, ensuring they have the required information and materials.Monitor program progress, collect feedback, and assist in evaluating program effectiveness.Produce deliverables (e.g., slide decks, reports, spreadsheets, marketing materials, etc.)Create and execute project proposals and plans in a timely manner.Participate in project team meetings and provide status updates, as appropriate.Collaborate with the team on various projects related to data.Track project progress, milestones, risks, and issues. WHO ARE YOU | EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALSMust be a current Undergraduate Junior, Senior or Graduate Student as of Summer 2026, enrolled in an accredited College/University OR a Recent Graduate (2024-2026) with a GPA of 3.0 or above. The student should be pursuing/have pursued a degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Psychology, Business Administration, or a relevant academic field.Prior professional and/or internship experience in human resources and/or business administration are preferred, but not required.Must be available to work on-site at our downtown D.C. office 2x per week at minimum.Must be willing to commit at least 32 hours per week during business hours for the 10-week program.
