About Your Role CMTS is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support aviation, transportation, and public infrastructure capital improvement projects throughout the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) Region. This role will provide engineering support related to the planning, design, coordination, construction, and commissioning of electrical systems associated with complex infrastructure and facility improvement projects. The Electrical Engineer will work closely with project managers, construction managers, architects, consultants, contractors, airport stakeholders, and client representatives to help ensure electrical systems are designed and constructed in accordance withproject requirements, operational standards, applicable codes, and industry best practices. Projects may include airport terminal improvements, airfield electrical systems, utility infrastructure, facility upgrades, roadway lighting, power distribution systems, emergency backup systems, transit facilities, tenant improvements, and other public sector capital improvement initiatives. Education Requirements • An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant electrical engineering experiencewherepermittedby applicable regulations What YoullNeed to Get the Job Done • 512 years of electrical engineering experience supporting aviation, transportation, infrastructure, or public sector capital improvement projects, • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, power distribution systems, lighting systems, grounding systems, and emergency power systems, • Experience supporting electrical design reviews, construction administration, commissioning, and field coordination activities, • Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, IBC, and local jurisdictional requirements, • Experience reviewing construction drawings, technical specifications, submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings, • Ability toidentifydesign conflicts, constructability concerns, and operational impacts while supporting resolution efforts, • Experience supporting projects within active operational environments preferred, • Strong analytical, technical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare reports, technical documentation, and project correspondence, • Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders, • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint, • Experience with electrical design and engineering software platforms preferred, • Ability to travel throughout Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia project locations asrequired What Will Make You Stand Out Certifications / Licenses • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, • EIT certification preferred for candidates pursuing PE licensure, • Experience supporting aviation or transportation infrastructure projects strongly preferred, • AutoCAD, • Revit, • SKM Power Tools, • ETAP, • BluebeamRevu, • Microsoft 365 What YoullDo • Support planning, design, coordination, and construction activities associated with electrical systems for aviation, transportation, and infrastructure capital improvement projects, • Review electrical designs, drawings, technical specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation for compliance with project requirements and applicable codes, • Coordinate with architects, engineers, project managers, contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to support project delivery objectives, • Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, product data, and change order requests related to electrical systems, • Conduct field inspections and site observations to verify construction activities, installation quality, and compliance with plans and specifications, • Support construction administration and commissioning activities including system testing, startup coordination, punch list reviews, and closeout verification, • Analyze electrical system performance andassistwith troubleshooting technical issues, design conflicts, and operational challenges, • Assistwith evaluation of power distribution systems, lighting systems, emergency backup systems, low-voltage systems, and utility coordination requirements, • Coordinate electrical engineering activities with multidisciplinary project teams to support integrated project delivery, • Monitorcontractor compliance with project requirements, safety standards, and electrical engineering specifications, • Prepare technical reports, engineering summaries, field reports, meeting documentation, and project correspondence, • Participatein design reviews, progress meetings, construction coordination meetings, and stakeholder discussions, • Support quality assurance and quality control efforts throughout all phases of project delivery, • Maintainorganized engineering documentation, project records, calculations, and technical files, • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence across project teams, • Build andmaintainstrong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders Salary Range • Commensurate On Experience CMTS offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, retirement plans, professional development opportunities, and career advancement pathways.
