Full Time Support Worker - Harborne, Birmingham Hours: Shifts - AM 07:30 - 14:30 | PM 14:30 - 21:30 - 35 hours a week Location: Harborne, Birmingham Start Date: ASAP Your new company Ongoing full time support workers are needed across the Birmingham Area to work in and across adult care settings, providing ongoing support to the residents at the homes. The working hours are flexible to work around you for either mornings or afternoons across the week subject to availability. This is a full time role of 30 - 35 hours per week. Your new role Your main role as a support worker will be ensuring the safety and comfort of service users. You will predominantly be working with elderly service users with various needs as a residential care home, so as well as carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage service users to have confidence and independence and encourage engagement in activities. The role will include personal care, and hygiene upkeep dependant on each service users' needs. You will be working with people from a variety of backgrounds, with varying levels of needs. With this, behaviour can be challenging, and you will need to be adaptable. Despite the challenges, this will be a rewarding role. Below are some of the care needs of the service users you will be working with: Older Person Care Dementia Learning Disability / Autism Mental Health Condition(s) Physical Disabilities Visual / Hearing Impairment What you'll need to succeed At least 6 months experience in the last 2 years in similar settings or role as a support or care worker Experience and willingness to get involved and be a proactive member of the team, taking part in activities, using own initiative etc Experience of dealing with challenging behaviour, Personal Care, Manual Handling - experience with various stages of Dementia & Alzheimer's would be an advantage A nurturing, patient, and proactive approach to supporting service users Excellent communication both with service users and staff Have in-date and in-person manual handling training and be able to provide the certificateStrong level of spoken and written English Hold a minimum of NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care, or above or equivalent Have a Childrens and Adults or Adult only DBS on the update service or willingness to apply for one What you need to do now If you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' and apply with you updated CV or call us now on (phone number removed) for Anastasija Satrova.
