    The Role As a Civils & Groundworks Operative, you will support utility infrastructure works, including excavation, trenching, reinstatement and associated groundworks for water meter installation and maintenance projects. You will work as part of a field team, ensuring all works are completed safely, professionally, on time and to the required specification. Key Responsibilities ● Carry out excavation, trenching and groundworks activities ● Support smart water meter installation and external meter works ● Assist with locating, exposing and accessing underground water assets ● Carry out reinstatement works following excavation ● Use hand tools, breakers, compactors and other equipment safely ● Support pipework, chamber, boundary box and service-related works where required ● Follow RAMS, site instructions, permit conditions and safety procedures ● Set up and maintain safe working areas, including barriers, cones and signage where required ● Maintain a clean, safe and professional working environment ● Report site issues, delays, defects, service strikes, near misses or safety concerns immediately ● Work effectively with supervisors, project coordinators, water meter technicians and reinstatement teams ● Complete job records, photos and daily reporting where required Essential Requirements ● Previous experience in civils, groundworks, utilities, drainage, reinstatement or construction ● Good understanding of safe excavation and site working practices ● Strong work ethic and reliability ● Ability to work independently and as part of a team ● Good timekeeping and willingness to travel for site work ● Ability to follow instructions, RAMS and safety procedures ● Right to work in the UK Preferred Requirements ● Valid CSCS card ● NRSWA Operative qualification ● Full UK driving licence ● CAT & Genny training ● Manual handling training ● First Aid training ● CPCS / NPORS plant tickets ● Experience in water utilities, meter installation, boundary boxes or reinstatement works What We Offer ● Competitive rates of pay ● Ongoing work opportunities ● Training and development support ● Opportunity to work on growing UK utility infrastructure projects ● Supportive operations and project management team ● Career progression opportunities for reliable and skilled operatives Candidate Profile We are looking for someone who is: ● Hands-on and practical ● Safety-conscious ● Reliable and punctual ● Able to work under pressure ● Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions ● Professional when dealing with customers, clients and the public ● Willing to learn and develop within the utilities sector
