If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.\nThe Planned Maintenance team are responsible for the design and delivery of MCC’s annual £20m+ planned maintenance programme, covering around 450 sites across the city. From resurfacing and reconstruction to innovative preventative treatments, we keep Manchester moving.\nYou’ll bring deep knowledge of materials, site operations and highway maintenance techniques, ensuring our work is safe, efficient and high-quality.\nWhat You’ll Do\nAs a Site Technician/Clerk of Works, you’ll be the eyes and ears on the ground, responsible for:\nAssessing sites for future programme inclusion\nSupervising contractors daily to uphold safety and quality\nManaging day-to-day site issues as they arise\nInvestigating complaints linked to works\nKeeping accurate site records and reporting progress\nInspecting completed works and identifying any remedial needs\nCollaborating with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders to support smooth programme delivery\nFor an informal discussion, please contact the hiring manager, Graham Price.\nAbout the Candidate\nEssential Skills & Experience\nProven, hands-on experience in Highway Construction and Maintenance.\nAwareness of carriageway & footway resurfacing and preventative treatments (Micro Surfacing / Slurry Seal / Surface Dressing), with enthusiasm to learn more\nUnderstanding of permits, public notices and general highway works processes\nAbility to read or create simple drawings or marked up plans\nFull UK driving licence and ability to travel across the city\nDesirable\nUnderstanding of Greater Manchester network operations (TfGM, UTC)\nONC/HNC in Highway or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).\nRecognised CAD qualification — or a willingness to work towards one.\nYou’ll be a confident communicator who listens, understands and acts.
